Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

Why would clubs offer £60mil in 12 months time when they aren't now ?

Suarez will not be able to go through a season without an incident ( if he stays ) , clubs wil not forget - 2 biting incidents , 1 racial incident , numerous other problems caused by Suarez.

If Suarez had a clean record then we could prob get the same as what clubs paid for players like Cavani and Falcao - £50mil ish.

If Madrid sell Benzema and Di Maria then I would expect a £45mil bid for Suarez and I would sell him.

.

Thats precisely why, we wont get 60m for him.
In twelve months, he will be worth less, and heaven forbid he does something controversial this season (like run naked down the pitch juggling tennis balls), then worth less again :)

I'm convinced that if Luis has a trouble free brilliant season we will get a better deal than we can at the moment. I could be wrong but the game is all about opinions.

If we sell him now the owners will literally be hanging themselves out to dry but there again that would please some people  :grinning:

When did Suarez last have a trouble free season ?

And why would clubs suddenly forgot all his incidents ? clubs arent going to risk paying £60mil for a player who keeps getting lenghy bans. If it was one incident and then nothing for a year or so then possibly - but its every season with him

Liverpool paid £22m for Suarez and his reputation was seriously flawed even then. Arsenal after a relatively short time have offered £40m for his services. Yes he is damaged goods but there are certainly clubs as demonstrated by Arsenal that are prepared to pay a lot of money regardless of his reputation. He is a phenomenal footballer and the majority of fans and some clubs will overlook his well publicised indiscretions. Just look at the reactiOn of the Kop towards Luis even after everything that had happened.

Not everybody, and this may come as a bit of a surprise to you, actually shares your view of Luis and what the club should do with him. I love a villain of the peace. Without them life would be very boring.

Yes Arsenal bid £40 mil - not £60 mil but £40 mil - where are the other bids of £60mil that will suddenly appear. We paid £22mil and since then his reputation has got a lot worse. Why would clubs suddenly pay £60mil for him why they obviously dont want too right now ( after his best productive season in the prem )

I know people overlook what he has done - thats their choice and they are entitled to do so.

I think someone the other day said they are glad we didnt get Willian because he obviously didnt want to play for us - well Suarez doesnt want to play for us and wants to leave the first chace he gets - i dont want players like that at the club - let alone all the other incidents he has done. He has cost the club both on and off the pitch.

We just should not sell him to Arsenal though, one of our main rivals. He should go abroad to Barcelona or the likes.

I suggested a sale price of £60m in the summer of 2014 if Suarez has a trouble free brilliant season. Why shouldn't his value go up? His value has gone up considerably since we bought him and it is probably true to say that his reputation is now even worse than when we bought him.

Heysel  damaged our reputation. Luis has simply been a rather annoying sideshow by comparison. Mind you I don't even find him that annoying. He is a street fighter. He is a winner.  You have actually said yourself in the past that you don't care what he does as long as he scores goals but no doubt you will deny that.

Andriy Yarmolenko - Dynamo Kyiv, Xherdan Shaqiri - Bayern Munich, Iker Muniain - Athletic Bilbao, Christian Eriksen - Ajax. Adem Ljajic - Fiorentina and Erik Lamela, AS Roma should all be immediate targets to take Stewart Downings place and id be happy if were able to sign any of them. Leandro Damiao, Internacional and LUIS MURIEL, Udinese should be the targets to replace Suarez if and when he decides to leave as the more central strikers IMO and both have the quality, Muriel in particular looks like he will be a big star in the future.

You see Benny (and the reincarnated Hustler), you have always looked at every thing connected to the club "that you claimed you supported" as half empty while I viewed them as almost full. The difference in whether we get £60M or what ever amount we asked for is how good a salesman are you? You don't seem very bright or optimistic in us getting a ridiculous money from our players but then you think we should pay over the odds to get the marquee signings that will make you happy. If I were to tell you three months ago that Gareth Bale would be sold for £95M you would come up with all kind of cr@ps to ridicule me, so what makes you think Suarez can't command £60M besides your claim that he carried "baggages"? You see Henry already state that we don't need to sell, especially at this tail end of the window while you would sooner push our best striker out of the door so you can come back with whatever excuses to spout your negative trash here.

Now don't mistaken that I wanted the little disloyal rat Suarez to stay...I would rather we get as much off him on the football field and much more off the field...I must say we need to play our cards right and avoid showing our desperation to sell.

OTOH...here we have Ayre while Spurs have Levy...so I won't hold my breath to say that Ayre won't make another blunder / stupid decision and see us getting fcked all over...again!

I presume Suarez is banned for the Carling Cup match against Notts County.

Suarez has declared he wants to leave - he has in public given a come and get me plea

So why have clubs not bid for him except Arsenal and at £40mil.

He has just had his most productive season in the prem but only one club has put a bid in for him. Money is flying around the transfer market this summer - Monaco have now joined in with the spending but why aren't clubs bidding for Suarez ? If you think Suarez can command a £60mil fee why aren't clubs bidding for him at those lofty prices.

maybe getting £60mil for him next year is pushing it but at the same time who knows. if he has a good season his value wont depreciate and we can still ask for £50mil considering he has less on his contract.
i really really doubt he would be so stupid to try another stunt like the ivanovich as he has got to realise that another incident that brings the game into disrepute like that would see his next club being outside of uefa jurisdiction.
he is short of something but he isnt that stupid to commit career suicide like that. he has more to lose than us so id expect him to behave himself if he stays which i hope he will because like him or not, we do need him.
