Well you sure as hell aren't a Liverpool fan, no fan can be this negtive about the team they supposedly love right before the start of a new season.

It's true! What tubby said was exactly correct. How could you not see the progress and at the start of the season after a good preseason there should be hope and optimism. It may be misguided but it has to be there.

Kazza there is no point in getting upset. You have to accept that you are dealing with a bit of a knob.

How people judge progress etc is up to them - for me it's position in the table - we moved forward one place, it was a step forward but even from Jan there were clear areas where we will struggle and I can't see them been sorted yet. I'm also worried that he has gone back to a midfield three that struggled last season because it has no balance. So Im not that optimistic about the forth coming season - and I'm pretty sure it's not illegal to think that way.

No one said it was illegal but at the start of the season have more of a wait and see attitude rather than hyping everyone else's chances except our own. I think you will be proved wrong this year, this year teams will not fancy playing us!

And if I'm proved wrong then I will be delighted and ill enjoy the pleasant surprise along with everyone else who thinks we will finish 6th ( as that appears to be the position most think we will finish )?

I've been trying to avoid conflict with you Benny as it does seem like every post from you whether fair or not is triggering reactions and I think we're a little oversensitive on here now. Let me just put it to you that you must surely concede that considering the challenges that have been faced, be it the Suarez situation, or the preseason warm ups, we genuinely seem to be handling things more positively than even back in the days of Rafa. I think that it what most on here are clinging to that there are signs of improvement. I think you get a lot of negativity at the moment as you almost find it impossible to acknowledge any positives in what you are posting.

Let's be honest, if the pre-season had been terrible like it has been the last few seasons you would definitely be pointing to that as signs that no progress was made. Surely the fact that you can't hang your hat on that is a good thing and something positive? Imho, with you poo-pooing the whole pre-season as irrelevant undermines your opinions and statements which in most parts are not that far away from what I think most people are feeling as well. Noone is getting excited yet, time will tell etc etc.

Why are you bothering? He is a complete knob. Just take a look at the Carling Cup thread started by BTN if you need confirmation. He just never takes off the red nose. I try to ignore him but it is virtually impossible. He is single handedly fkg up this forum and what's more annoying is that the mods do fk all about it. Posters were banned for criticising Rafa in the same way that BTN has criticised our manager and owners.

If BTN is a true Liverpool supporter then he needs to show some respect to people that are trying to move the club forward.

It's pre season though mate - it's good for fitness but in terms of competition it's about Championship level - we haven't been tested at all at the back and I believe it's created false confidence - if we beat Stoke then I will feel a bit more positive about the season but until then nothing has changed from my feelings from last season and about the squad and management.

Okay, so BTN is not positive and the others are generally positive and are criticizing each other.  There is no need for name calling and hurling insults and accusing a participant for being a Spurs or Sunderland fan or whatever fan if he is not positive. If you can't agree then let's agree to disagree and move on.

For me, though the preseason results so far have been positive,  I still hold to the belief that top 3 are reserved for Chelsea, Man City and manure(unfortunately) and Arsenal, Spurs and possibly us will battle blood, sweat and tears for 4th and most likely we'll finish 6th behind Spurs and Arsenal and the best we can finish is 5th. Had this ugly Suarez saga not happen and he's still committed to playing for Liverpool like he did last season (minus the biting), we might just pip Ars and Spurs for 4th. But Suarez has jumped to the dark side now and unlikely he'll be the same again. So as a realist, I'll be happy with 5th and a domestic trophy and see how we'll move up from there.

I'm not happy with our business in the transfer market so far. No more signings since the 4 newcomers joined in July and those 4 guys are an ageing free transfer drop out from Man City, an unproven youngster from Barcelona B, a decent goalkeeper from Sunderland and a Jack of All Trades attacking player from C.Vigo. No big signings there nor any forthcoming to be excited about. These are my reasons for us being hard to qualify for CL.
