For what it's worth... and to get back on topic just a tad...
Brendan Rogers is slowly winning me over. Like a few have mentioned before, I do wish he was not as "media friendly" as he is.... still tends to say a little too much when results on the field have not yet been backed up.
I love the fact that he has enough courage of conviction to pursue with his prefered method of playing but has also shown the willingness to adapt a little when situations demand it. I did think that he wrote off big Andy a little too soon. We could have dearly used him (when he wasn't injured) against some of the more physical mid to bottom table sides when our midfield and forwards were getting lumps kicked off of them. In those situations, until we have the team to pass these sides into oblivion and negate their pressing and physical methods, a more direct route with a big CF to put the fear of god into them would have been much better. You have to work with the tools you got and until you build a world class workshop with top of the line tools, you cannot adopt world class processes with tools made from China.
Patience is often the key. You cannot get a car to perfom like a Porsche if the majority of the parts available to you were made by Rover. If you tried, you'd fail badly. I think, knowing full well that funds were limited, he should have made the best use of the people available and use them to their strengths. We were and are not Chelsea or Man City where we have unlimited funds to just buy the players to suit the system you want to play. We would have been better off to take it one step and a time and slowly mould the team to how you wanted them to play. The team under Dalglish was good enough to win a domestic trophy and get to the final of the other... but we were inconsistent in the league.
We should have built on that. But slowly, this team is now being built in his image and hopefully we will be better off this year. In fact, I have faith that it will as I feel he has learnt from his mistakes. This season, with a little bit more reinforcement, we will be ok...... Suarez issue notwithstanding.
