Think some of you guys are being a bit harsh with "The Raven". I haven't seen him slagging the new manager off, if I'm interpreting his posts correctly he seems to be saying it's a bit early to be hailing Brendan Rodgers as the "new messiah", a view with which I so far agree.

Rodgers has done some good stuff, eg given some youngsters an early opportunity to show what they can do.

He's also done some questionable stuff eg made statements like "I'd be a nutter to send Carrol out on loan" just prior to sending Carrol out on loan  .

I'm also not too impressed with his appearances so far in the LFC documentary "Being Liverpool". His team talk before the Roma game at Fenway Park was imo Fu*king cringeworthy, I was surprised that half the players didn't burst out laughing and ask him if he was "sure".

That aside, the fella's still settling into the job and despite some unfortunate results we do seem to be playing an attractive style of footy, won't knock him but it'll be a long time before I even consider talking about him in the same breath as Shanks , Bob or Rafa.

there was only one shanks and thats the way it should stay,rodgers has the same chance as bill had and its up to him what he does with it.
so far he's doing well and has created a buzz about liverpool again which is so important.you get more out of people when they actually get up out of bed and are excited to go to work and we have seen that transformation since he arrived.the youth are thriving under him and his confidence in them is being rewarded when he selects them for a game.our style of play has transformed very quickly and we average 600-650 successful passes per game which is something we have'nt done for a long time and its beginning to pay off.
he has a lot to be credited for already in his short tenure but i dont go for this belief that we were somehow finished untill he showed up.we were in trouble but that was back in 2010 and people barely even knew who rodgers was then.our troubles ended back with the departure of the cowboys.
fenway have a plan for the club and a young manager was as they said, always in their plans so to me it looks like rodgers could have just been in the right place at the right time and caught the wave when it was beginning to break. as a fan im thankful and hopeful for the future but sadly for brendan it takes a lot more than 4 months to be classed in that bracket of legends.

I am not saying Brendan Rodgers is the reincarnation of Bill Shankly. This is not the 60s, we are not in the second division and Anfield is not a toilet. The comparison is in the shared belief that LFC is the biggest, the best, most decorated, unique and important club in the world. Shankly made it clear that the players who pull on the red jersey are honoured and the luckiest cu'nts who ever kicked a ball. Rodgers agrees and has said so publicly. He has changed the "This is Anfield" sign, got red nets back and brought a new buzz about the place by calling on the past to influence the future. He is a Celt from a working class background, brought up with the same values which state that hard work is the ONLY way to get what you want. United we stand, divided we fall.
I am offended that people find offence in this view as it is pure Bill Shankly. The philosophy, the attitude, the no-nonsense, tell it how it is mentality. I am not comparing achievements, how could I, why would I? Shanklys achievements are unquestionable and no-one will surpass them or even equal them. But this is no false dawn, it is the begining of a journey which will no doubt be filled with disappointment and heartbreak, but we must believe we have the right man to take us where we want to be. Someone who is cut from the same cloth as our greatest manager, someone who will be the focus for our hopes and aspirations, someone who can lead from the front who we can all get behind, someone who "gets us".

Shankly said it, Rodgers echoes it...

History will be kind to whom ever shows us a level of success, by that i mean getting into the top 4 then staying there. Like it or not we are being labeled as a fallen giant.

Having just watched the 2nd being liverpool Bren seems set on his path no matter who or what gets in his way. A certain little winger got a telling off like he was a school kid for getting out of line.

This season is kind of car crash TV you have to keep on watching as you never know whats going to happen. Hand on heart this is the first season in a very long time i wouldnt even guess where we will end up.

I am not a fan of the documentary. The way they shot it, the narration, they way theyve edited it. It leaves us wide open to criticism and ridicule.
What I would say to supporters is try not to take it too seriously. It is a tv programme meant to entertain. Although it is a "reality" progranme, it is not real because things are swapped round, staged managed and repeated. Take it with a pinch of salt and any stick you get off evertonians should be laughed off with a "cant wait to see 'Being Bitter' with gollum as the star" comment. What a miserable Fu*king show that would be...

We have a great win on the weekend which will hopefully kick off this exciting new revolution of the club and people seem more worried about Shanks comparsion

If BR himself was pronoucing himself at every opportunity  the new Shanks I would be irate, fans making that comparsion well what's the problem.

We can only  hope they are spot on the money with that comparsion .

BR has his style like all previous managers but end of day he will be judged by what happens on the field

So far his style of play, blooding young players, not afraid to dent so called bigger players egos and making ballsy decision such like when playing a man down against the MANCS gets big thumbs up from me

I think it's easier for Rodgers to work with kids half his age and gain respect from them, rather than 'old hat' players. This maybe another reason he's willing to play them because he's certainly got the younger ones fired up fighting for their places in the team. Possibly.

and that is very very good management, especially football management.

It's the first time in years i've seen a Liverpool squad battling it out for a place in the first 11. As you said, many would turn up and automatically start, regardless of form or ability.

That's down to the manager though, for not picking players based on reputation and ''price tag'', he is picking players who are good enough to start for his team and players that will compliment his system.

He has big cojones as well, to put Suso instead of a more experienced Henderson in the 2nd half against Man Utd showed his courage

The Shanks comparison is OTT in my opinion, he has a LONG way to be even considered like Shanks, and I really don't think any manager in the world would do what Shankly did to this club.

I agree with your last sentence, and that's why I think he will be a success here, he is cocky and self confident in his ability to make it in the big stage

It's what we need. A calm head picking the best players for the right positions.
