It takes time to adjust to a few new key players, a new manager, and a new style of play.
Rodgers can be excused a slow start (and 3-0 to Brom is not a slow start, its an embarrassment) but if he ends the season anywhere lower than 7th then he doesnt deserve another season. I'm not a big fan of changing managers every season and I thought Kenny should have stayed despite wasting tons of money but by sacking him the owners (imo) made it clear that they believed a club of our stature shouldnt be anywhere near where we ended last season. In that, I agree with them.

the irony is that michael laudrup who swansea hired to replace rogers won on the first day 5-0 and we lost 3-0.
rogers talk the talk (tika taka football) but can he walk the walk?
i will like to see how he manage the team without addressing our "striker crisis".

This is going to be an experimental season and BR will still be here next season if we don't get relegated. I am fearing the worst for our first 3 home games and I think we'll be beaten high and dry in all of them including the away game at Sunderland.

The goal scoring crisis is going to spill over to this season if Brendan doesn't sign a proven striker soon. Suarez should never be played as a central striker, he is best playing down the left or right flank tearing down defences and providing assists and score a world class goal every now and then.

If we finish 10th then Rodgers should be shot never mind sacked ! I'm stunned by the lack of ambition and expectation that is starting to filter to the supporters now. It's bad enough when it comes to our transfer and the way the manager talks but I  really cant understand fans believing that the likes of Everton and Newcastle are better sides than us.  We have some of the best players in the league in their respective positions (Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez) at our club and to make matters worse only 2 sides have outspent us in terms of both total spent AND net spent over the past few years.

I've ignored "supporters" who spout this bull Sh*t.  We finished 8th last season when the only consistency we had was that we were consistently *****.  We won't finish worse than we did last year, even tho it's much more competitive now.  Last season and the start of this season shows that it's much harder for the big clubs to consistently pick up points, and I expect that to continue to be a trend.  There's no need to freak out yet.  If we finish 5th or 6th, it really wouldn't be bad considering how many big clubs are in the premier league this season.  City spent hundreds of millions and still finished 5th, qualified for the CL the following season, and won league the season after that.

Rodgers has a lot of work to do if he wants us to play his style of football AND get results doing it. Funny enough, I have a feeling Rodgers will need to show a lot more flexibility and adaptability at least in the short term.

I don't know what the f*ck I did, but I jacked this post up like mad.. Somehow some of aCe's post ended up in the middle of mine.

The Premier League are considering a complaint made by Fulham over remarks made about Clint Dempsey by the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

The West Londoners filed the complaint last month after Rodgers told a press conference that Liverpool were interested in signing the American international.

However, Cottagers manager Martin Jol has confirmed that no offer has been received for Dempsey, 29, who was omitted from the Fulham squad to face Norwich on the opening day of the season and will also be absent from their second game at Old Trafford.

Fulham believe Rodgers contravened Premier League rules by publicly revealing his club's interest in the player.

Their complaint, received last month, was discussed by the Premier League board. The Premier League will write to the parties involved before it is decided whether any further action needs to be taken, although ESPN understands that Liverpool contacted both the league and the club with their response to the complaint.

A Premier League statement said: "The Premier League has received a complaint from Fulham FC regarding certain comments made by Liverpool FC officials, and is currently looking into the matter."

The issue was sparked by a story on a website belonging to Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group which implied that Dempsey was to become a Liverpool player.

Although the story was swiftly taken down, Rodgers, speaking during his club's American tour, told a press conference: "Clint is a player we've inquired about - it is as simple as that. Ian Ayre, our managing director, has spoken with the club to see what the position is.

"That is where we're at. He's a very talented player - but we don't like to talk about other clubs' players."

Speaking as he prepared for Fulham's game at United, Jol said: "It's the same situation. There has been no formal bid on the table and nothing has changed."

He had earlier described the situation as "almost embarrassing" amid reports that the player was refusing to play, and claimed Dempsey had told people at Fulham that he was going to Liverpool.

Many people don't feel Dempsey is getting a fair fight here.  Steve Nicol has said that, since he coached him at New England in a similar situation, Dempsey never even remotely showed resentment towards playing, and that's not the type of person he is, he wouldn't refuse to play no matter what.  It seems a lot of people agree that we just haven't heard Dempsey's side of the story and he's not being put in good light.

I've always questioned the validity of the claims he refused to play.  I've followed him for quite awhile as well, and he has never seemed that type of person.  If he has refused to play, I don't want him anywhere near the club, but if that's not the case then I'd love to see him here.

Rodgers shouldnt have responded to the questions really and whoever updated the website
dropped a right bollock.

Fulham are being a bit touchy though and I suspect the reality is Dempsey has been angling
for a move for a while and they are looking for someone to blame.

May have seen their backside over the Assaidi deal and all as think they were close to him until
we nipped in.

I hope Brendan signs up Clint Dempsey this week. Disappointed that it's dragged out like it has. He also needs to buy another striker, especially if Carroll leaves. I have a suggestion for him, but there's no thread for suggestions for new signings.

In a way, I admire the man for taking up this top job at Liverpool, because the club though not in debts is poor compare to Chelsea, MCity, high expectations, and needs an awful long time to rebuild, no CL football thus hard to buy good players.

Because he has limited funds to sign the players he really wants and the team needs time to absorb his style of football, I do not expect such a team in this state to qualify for CL. I'm going to lower my expectation of this season to 10th place finish just like Swansea last season. And I am starting to fear our next 3 home games including the away game at Sunderland. I'm not optimistic because we do not have a proven goalscorer to put away the chances created. The stikers we have at our disposal Suarez, Borini and Carroll are not 20+ goals/season type and unless we can get one, the same goal scoring nightmare from last season will carry forward to this season. Hope Brendan can do something about this before the window closes. January transfer window is not really for Liverpool where players will be over inflated.

There is not much I disagree with here.

However despite all the limitations placed on Rodgers I still expect better results than a 3-0 loss to West Brom and a fortunate 1-0 victory over Hearts.

The problem is that although we have a few good players, our squad is probs the 7th or 8th best in the league, which obviousl means CL qualification is a huge ask. I agree that we do need a proven goalscorer, despite how talented suarez is he just misses too many chances and although its too earl to comment on Borini I am not overly optimistic. I think what we should aim for this season is developing this new passing style and also improving our record at anfield and win most of our home games, i think a top 6 finish would be a good achievment. As for this weekend i think we may snatch a 1-1 draw against City but a lot of the time it will be 10 men behind the ball stuff.

Michael Owen, perhaps? I know he's injury prone and hated because of playing for Utd, but would he be on Brendan's radar?  *Ducks to avoid a hail of bullets.*  :lookaround

why though?

He is finished @ the top level.

I would rather take a risk on Jordan Rhodes rather then go and get michael owen.

ok so cards on the table, i have been holding off posting about this for two days to see if any other mambers would posts about it first so i dont get all the stick for posting it.

some one in our club has spoken to some media guys saying that a lot of players are unhappy with the Manager.

Sky sort of hints at the problems but has not come out said said what its all about but heard someone on the radio saying that Gerrard and Agger are the unhappy ones and a lot of the team feel that Andy Carroll is being given a hard time by the manager.

heard a guy say on sky this morning that they are giving odds of 2-1 that we start singing "you dont know what your doing" today.

i know its early days but he seems very one dimensional with hat he wants. My worry is when things aernt going well what his plan B is. Will he not switch the system no matter what.

If LFC fans do that before the manager had completed 3 league games then the club's future is in trouble...

its only been a few games and the media are loving the fact that we lost our first game. I fear that he is not going to be given a chance by the media, this stuff about the players being unhappy is not good if true but i feel he is the sort of guy that will sit and talk to the players and take on board what they have to say.
