Pretty much mate - some go a little overboard with the hype.

Yes, Benny you are also like this about certain footballers, so it's risible that you should be spouting lines such as this one.

I thought Suarez's traditional role was provider? so this lad ccant be the fulcrum unless we have 2 playmakers (which I also thought was SG).
The picture aint clear to me yet. always a provider and a finisher - Keegan/Tosh, Kenny/Rush, Morecambe/Wise.

He will definitely play Borini as a sole striker with Suarez on either right or left side of attack in a 4-3-3 formation. I think he will most probably play on the left like he did with Ajax.

I thought he took up good positions ,but he was all too easily dispossessed.

i tell you what 2nd half if we would of gone 4-4-2 with carroll joining borini we would of had more success. The reason being we had no-one in midfield doing out and poor borini was left on his lonesem. Thats what worries me is brendan prepared to change the system when things aernt going our way.

I wasn't sure he'd be able to really be a solid starter for us this year, but watching how he played with all our attacking players, especially Suarez, and I was extremely impressed.  He could be quite the player for us this season.

I agree with the earlier post about how if we'd played 4-4-2 tonight with that performance in the second half we would have scored 5, 6 maybe 7 goals.

Borini did well but there were aspects of his second half performance where he struggled with the final ball due to a lack of power and strength situations that I think Carroll would have done better with.

To me I think we played well tonight but against a Stoke with 10 behind the ball for 90 minutes I'm still not convinced we'd have definitely won the game. Maybe just 1-0. That said it was an improvement in terms of possession, passing and distribution from the back with few long balls.

I just feel that there's much more to come as I don't feel there were enough clear cut chances created in the second half.

Judging by his performance against Hearts, Borini isn't good enough. If he can't score easy chances against SPL opposition, what chance does he have in the Premier League? Could be another Voronin. And we know how horrifically bad he was. We need another striker before the transfer window closes. Possibly two, if Carroll goes.

Voronin would have probably scored that chance at the end of the first half or at least got it on target.

It beggars belief that he sidefooted it like that after Sterling had done so well to intercept, run and then pick him out.
