i still think big players would come to this club, obviously you have the likes of that gylfi fella who is just concerned about the money but as rodgers himself mentioned the fact we havent been top dogs for a while is a big attraction to people like him who understand the game.
we are not a sleeping giant we a sleeping f**king leviathian, believe me if you gave man united the choice of one club they wouldnt want to see winning the league again it wouldnt be city it would be us because they full well know just as we knew in the early 90`s that when clubs the size of us or united get on a roll of winning titles they become very hard to stop.
in 1977 we reached the european cup final, although the 70`s were tough times with high unemployment, strikes, raging inflation and power cuts 30,000 fans made their way to rome, this was at a time when the furthest most people ever went was north wales, it was the biggest mass exodus of people across the continent since the second world war and fans did anything to get there, some people sold their cars and others quit their jobs to get their redundancy pay. a few months later those two top 4 `giants` chelsea and man city played each other at stamford bridge in a top flight fixture and the attendance was 18,782.
huge numbers of fans travelling to far flung places to follow their team just wasnt in the culture back then, no club in the world had that type of fanatical following but we werent no ordinary club.
we will get it right one day lad, just like united 20 years ago we are too big a club not to have our day again and when our day comes trying to stop this club will be like trying to stop a supertanker. if players want to be a part of that or not it`s up to them, but our day will come.
