We're sh!t at finishing, that is a fact this season. 16 times we have hit the woodwork, keeper after keeper having a stormer against us. This is no mere coincidence, we have lost the cutting edge up front.

So what options does Kenny have to resolve this -

Persist with the options we have in the squad

Andy Carroll
Disappointing so far. Never has seemed to get rid of the stigma of being bought for £35m. The weight of expectation combined with injury early on has prevented him ever settling properly. He has never been given a solid run purely based on the pressure to deliver results, that said the chance he has been given he hasn't taken. In my opinion he could be a great asset, but can we afford to wait/persist with him?

Dirk Kuyt
Nowadays he is a make shift striker. Since the days of Benitez he has plied his trade as a hard-working winger. I can never see him meeting our needs of a finisher.

Luis Suarez
Torres was the best finisher we had in years, prior to his decision to leave he was deadly, world class in fact, rarely did you question whether he would score. Suarez is equally world class but in a very different way, he picks the lock of the meanest defences yet lacks the clinical finish that Torres possessed.

Craig Bellamy
Undoubtedly the best free transfer we have made in a long time. His attitude is brilliant and is arguably more clinical than Suarez. Bellamy's problem is his temperament and personality requires him to be managed carefully, hence why he has not started so often as we would of liked. But he has potential to provide the goals we sorely are missing.

Raid the transfer market in January
It's anyone's guess who we would go for. Like most clubs we would be very reluctant to do big business in January as there is no real value for money. There are options however - Torres back at a cut price?

Loan signing similar to Adebayor at Spurs? A European player loan signing could very well meet our needs and provide great value for money. We would get a decent player looking to impress prior to the Euros without forking out a enormous sum.

He said he wants to go and is just what we need

Well one thing we need is penalty practice a 20 percent conversion out of 5 attempts is woeful

Considering the off field situation with Suarez I think we need to look at transfer market but as we all know January transfers are fraught with disappointment

Need to mix things up.

We need to aim on getting another striker on January while building on Suarez and Bellamy as starters ,along letting Carrol get a fighting chance espcially against the weaker team. Kuyt unfortunelty has maxed his career in Liverpool ,should get a standing ovation and a farewell card.

As Bella can also play as a winger ,i can see a formation where Suarez and Carrol play forward roles while Bellami and Downing (if he would finally grant us his presence) running the flanks. Depending on the quality of the new signing we can rotate the four depending on the fixtures.

Defoe is a fair shout. My concerns would be he is extremely selfish and part of the reason he has failed at Spurs. All strikers have to retain an element of selfishness yet Defoe is the extreme and it runs contrary to system that relies on team play. I wouldn't say no though, for the right price.

A decent striker but no loyalty

in the case of defoe id agree with scs and say it would have to be for the right fee.
he is a decent player and finisher but his injury record is terrible.
if we could offload maxi or kuyt for the price to bring in defoe id have no qualms about that.

Just watched the firdt fifteen minutes of Spurs v. Chelsea. I hope Downing was tuned in and taking notes of the way Bale set up Adebayor's goal. In fact if Downing is worth 20 million, Bale must be worth 60. If Downing was whipping in decent crosses (doing what he was bought for), our goals tally would be alot better.

clealy we're lacking in goals, but the likes of Downing and Kuyt and Maxi have to take a lot of the blame.

Last night Downing struggled to cross the ball, Kuyt was all over the place and Maxi performed his usual disapearing act.

Give Carroll 5 games in a row and let the lad find his feet. Either that or sell him and move on. It's not hard FFS

We need better coaches. This is a problem we have had for a long time now, on the training pitch is where new ideas come from. Our defence has shored up a hell of a lot, so our work in that department has paid dividends, but attacking wise, we are poor. We continue to make the oppositions goalkeeper look like superman. We need better attacking coaches.
