How to solve a problem like garcia?

Witch hunt this is, Jedi liked he is not  :(

Hardly a "witch hunt" -- more like a gentle rebuke for a practice that irks me to no end.  And, if the attribution was there all along, why did Saint and Babu both seem to think you wrote it when they responded?  Leon's right...this is the second time you've edited one of your posts without the typical editing message coming up.

---Edit---
And now I see you've added a link to the original article in your first post, again without the typical "edited by" message coming up.  Or are you going to tell me that was there all along as well?

---End Edit---

But, you know what, it's done with.  I'll drop it.  In future, though, I'd advise you to be crystal clear when including someone else's ideas in your post.  :;):

Yeah, I read this earlier and there certainly wasn't a link or anything else saying it was written by someone else.

Anyway, this has been all said a thousand times before. It's a decent article, but yeah...

Jedi wrote:What are we going to do about Garcia? While it is unlikely that we'll see a reality TV show in the January transfer window to audition for his replacement, his value to the team is as much a source of debate as ever.

Last Saturdays performance against Fulham served only to provide evidence for both the prosecution and the defence, like many games before it. A peripheral figure for much of the game, then he conjured up a superb header from a distance which, had it been Crouch on the end of Aggers beautiful cross, would have seen the ball bounce more times than a Steve Harmison loosener on its way to the keeper.

The applause which greeted his removal shortly afterwards would surely have been more muted but for this typically outrageous piece of finishing which meant his contribution ended on a high rather than a anti climax.

Garcia falls squarely into the category of "luxury player". The type who entertains, can decide a match with a single flash of skill, but cannot be relied upon when the tough gets going. Need a unexpected flick or a incisive pass to unlock a defence? Luis is your man!!

Need someone to drag you back into a game when your 1 - 0 down and struggling to find any real fluency? Look elsewhere!

No-one gives the ball away more frequently, yet promises so much when in possession of the ball in and around the 18 yard box, think of the great goals of the last 3 years and Garcia will figure prominently.

So is he worth the candle? Surely there must always be room for the flair player? The one who inspires delight and groans in equal measure?  Well yes but you have to choose when and where to play him.

Don't even think about putting him on the wing away from home unless, you want to give the full back behind him an impression of what it was like at the Alamo!

Do pick him for European nights, playing just off the striker, where he can wander and produce some stunning shots and passes. As for the rest your guess is a good as mine.

On balance I am happier when I see Luis's name in the team sheet-  you just have to hope the other 10 players are on form.

In future, you may want to attribute comments like these to the actual author--Andy Proudfoot of the Daily Post in this case--rather than implying that they're your thoughts.  ???

Back to the topic at hand:

there is no problem with Garcia, there are certain games he is more suited to, and certain games he isnt. Example:

Liverpool at home = garcia plays good

Away to Bolton = Garcia plays bad

Its not too easy to work out when he is most useful. Look at our last game against Fulham, in the second half Garcia was in full swing, but at an away game to a more physical side he will be bullied non stop.

Garcia is a great player when used in the right games at the right time, it's just a case of rafa picking the right times to play him. I think rafa has been forced to play him in some games because of injuries or lack of ability in other players but if this buyout gives him the chance to build the squad he truely wants garcia will be used more as a very useful impact player like crouch

without lui we wouldnt have won the champs league or the fa cup all his haters should remember that

I take your point-only sort of though as Luis scored away to Bolton last season in a 2-2 draw, and he also scored on his debut there when it was wrongly disallowed for offside.

Spain must be a fascinating country for some of the English press, because the rotation and not grasping the english game with Rafa, the unrealiability (is this right?) of Luis Garcia, and the Absence of security of Reina are recurrent topics.

Let's look at the Maths

This Season Goals

Peter Crouch  9
Luis Garcia  5
Steven Gerrard  4
John Arne Riise  3
Xabi Alonso  1
Jamie Carragher  1

Last Season Goals

Steven Gerrard  23
Djibril Cisse  19
Peter Crouch  13
Luis Garcia  11
Fernando Morientes  9
Xabi Alonso  5
John Arne Riise

And the previous one
Milan Baros  13
Luis Garcia  13
Steven Gerrard  12
John Arne Riise  8
Djibril Cisse  5
Neil Mellor  5
Florent Sinama Pongolle

Those are facts. And another fact is that LG can't afford to have a bad game without the press having a go on him.

You have an unreliable realiabilty here: He's a unreliable player that gives regular and important goals to the team every season. He's not that unreliable in that sense, is he?

The problem with Garcia is he doesnt fall nicely into any one category IE cr@p, poor, average, good , great. He seems to fill all the categories (usually in the same game!)
