I hear you RB, but tbh I'd be happy if we just got our money back.

Maybe the exodus of the Spanish contingent over the last couple of seasons has soured my view of "foreign" commitment to LFC and I've never seen Italian players as ones to stick with a club outside of their own country.

If we hung onto Aquilani the fella (imo) would just let his contract run down and eventually skip off on a free.

Yeah, money back sounds about right ,but they can shove the derisory sum of 12 million paid in instalments that's just hardfaced   ... If we're  to challenge next season some serious Lira  needs to be accrued ,and I guess I just don't want big money being offered for him after we have taken a ridiculous drop

Incidentally the Italian media seem to think he has cemented his place in the Italian midfield with this performance . So on the strength of that , I cant help thinking it wouldn't be so bad including Aquilani in our new set up next season

Italy's Aquilani

TP, your hatred for Lucas is beyond repair. Can't you at least save it for the Lucas Thread? On the rare occasion he has a bad performance?  :upside:

He's on a whopping 3.5 million a year and not cut out for the ruck 'n' tumble of the premier league.

Kenny Dalglish today suggested Alberto Aquilani could have a key role to play at Anfield next season.

The Italian midfielder has excelled while on a season loan to Juventus, but he is due to return to Melwood in the summer for the start of pre-season training.

"When people talk about next season, I'm surprised they don't give Alberto a mention," he said. "Everyone seems to have forgotten about him.

"I know he has done really well at Juventus this season. When the loan finishes at the end of the season, he reverts back to being a Liverpool player.

"Nothing is cast in stone and he could be coming back to play for Liverpool. He could be a valuable asset here next season. He's still our player."

Aquilani arrived at Anfield as a replacement for Xabi Alonso in the summer of 2009, but injury problems restricted his Liverpool career to just 13 starts and 13 substitute appearances before he made the switch to Serie A.

"He certainly didn't have the best of luck last season," Dalglish added.

"At times he did really well and at other times he didn't do quite so well but you can say that about most players. What I do know is that he's had a fantastic season at Juventus."

i think that is Kenny trying to force Juve's hand a bit as they appear to be trying to get him on the cheap.
Like i have said previously though, if they or anyone else is not willing to pay what we value him at then he stays.
We dont have the best depth to our squad and while i am not convinced he would fancy coming back, at the end of the day he is our player and could provide a little creativity in the final third in games against weaker opposition at home.

The guy wasnt giving enough time.  When he finally got fit there was some beautiful play between him and Gerrard.  Aqua and Yossi were 2 players capable of making defence splitting passes.  We don't seem to have anyone capable of that as such this year.

Really dont see him returning though.  He seems happier since he left. But then again, kennys man management might help him improve.

Agreed,

so to summarize what Kenny is saying ''pay up''

We had an agreement of price, Juve should be sensible and pay that agreed price.

Yeah I thought the exact same thing. Personally I'd like to see him back for one last crack at it, but if Kenny has other ideas I'd be excited to find out who they might involve.

Reading the headlines today and Aqua is saying he doesn't want to come back...
He clearly doesn't ever want to come back here so we should just sell him to Juve or whoever wants him!

He wont be back imo.

Although if it was a choice between him or Charlie Adam it's a no-brainer.

how exactly?

Aqua recently said he wants to stay at Juve, is it wise to keep a player that doesn't want to be here?

They're two separate questions btw
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

we are making good money from the loan, if he wishes to stay there then they pay what we ask or they can carry on paying the loan fee and we carry on makking money out of it.
