I said it was a signing which was wrong and everyone was clouded in terms of the excitement and jubilation which came with him arriving .

Joe Cole lost whatever he had when he had his serious knee injury - Chelsea knew it and didnt give him a new contract , the mancs knew it hence not going for him for a free - same with other clubs - we were the only stupid club to give him 90 grand a week on a 5 year deal !!!! more madness from Purslow .

Selling him for a million will be good enough .

Benny, the signing made perfect sense in the summer, we had no money to go out and buy players and were worried about losing the likes of Gerrard, Torres and Reina. It looked a good piece of business but it hasn't worked out and his fate was probably sealed the minute we signed Suarez. I don't believe it's necessarily the case that he is finished as a top player but he does need to remain injury free in a decent side with a manager who likes him. Unfortunately for him he hasn't really had any of those three.

I suspect Redknapp may still be interested in taking him back to London in the summer.

those are merely assumptions until proven with relevant articles or comments that back up your statement. what are your sources?

So Chelsea offered him a new contract did they ?

Go back to the summer and you will see articles quoting ORN saying he wont be buying him

The signing made sense in terms of it deflected the flack away from the owners and new manager - in footballing terms it was a bad signing and a waste of wages - Joe Cole has brought nothing to the team and you could see the minute he started playing he was no longer the player he used to be - certainly not a player to command 90 grand a week .

I was insulted from pillar to post by people like Bigmick because i had my reservations from the start and i did that disgraceful act of sticking to my opinion instead of jumping on the "missing piece " bandwagon .

Shame some arent around or in hiding to give an apology and admit they were wrong .

back up your comment that he had lost whatever he had with his serious knee injury and that Manchester United knew it.

Its not rocket science is it

International player who ORN was interested in for years has an injury plagued and then comes up for free and he doesnt go for him - what reason would you think then ?

how did you know? you had a crystal ball? at that point in time, most people thought it was a great deal as we all know how amazing Joe can be. it's just a shame it hasn't worked out but if patience can be shown to Aurelio, why not Joe?

I knew because i had watched him play for the previous two seasons and could see he was no longer the player he used to be

Aurelio has a year left on a cheap contract

Cole has 3 years left on a contract worth 20 mill - 90 grand a week - for that money you want performances - we havent had one

Get rid and as soon as possible - he offers us nothing .

i rather give him another season. this season has been a poor on both on (first 6 months) and off (ownership saga) the field. it doesn't hurt to have quality players on the bench after all as well. i'm positive he will perform better next season. besides, Joe's contract is nothing compared to the amount wasted on Konchesky, Jones and Poulson who aren't getting a look in at all.

And in footballing terms he hasn't been able to stay fit and has for the most part played in a very poor side.

Get rid of all 4 of them plus others - Cole has done nothing for us this season - he is approaching 30 now and those wages plus others will free up money to buy proper quality

There is no space for Cole in the first team and we certainly arent going to give 90 grand a week for someone to sit on the bench .

Forget the off the field stuff - other players have managed to shine through it

Being able to stay fit is another reason why he should go - he cant stay fit .

As for playing in a poor side - so have others yet have managed to shine

We are playing far far better without him - he is not good enough anymore .

We can no longer make excuses for players not pulling their weight - Kenny wont accept it and its the reason why he will go .

Apparently Comolli said that one of the main criteria in our new transfer policy is to see the player's track record of fitness. Good idea. However, that means, Agger, Aurelio and Joe Cole are in danger of being shown the door...

i can't recall too many players shining during the Hodgson debacle mate, i'd be delighted to see your list of those that did.

We are playing better without, no arguments there but you could also say he was injured for a while when Kenny came in and has missed the boat. The fact Kenny prefers Maxi ahead of him pretty much confirms he will be on his way.

What do you mean by not pulling their weight? Has Joe not been working hard enough in training for your liking!?

Id rather hang onto him and let him play a part as a squad player. We are most likely going to rebuild heavily in the summer so it would be good to have someone like him able to come off the bench. None of the other top sides will take him unless he dropped his wage demands massively.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Lucas for one

Exactly in terms of maxi - he must of been impressing him during training to get picked ahead of Cole which says that Cole isnt doing enough

As for pulling your weight - he earns 90 grand a week so he must be doing something for the team yet has done nothing over the whole season
