nice one, that's at least some cover sorted at left back for next season - I'd love to see Aurelio be our first choice but we can't take that risk at all. Maybe having adequate cover and releasing the importance of him will help prevent so many injuries - but I'm sure he'll manage it by himself at home :D

Koncheskey has to go - I dont want many memories of Roy knocking about next season

Stevie Heighway on the wing

If Kelly starts at CB, then Johnson would slot back in at RB, no?

That's what I'm saying  :D

I want Kelly at CB (preferably with Cahill) so that we can play our new LB and Johnson at RB.  If we get Cahill and still play Agger or Carra alongside him, sign a new LB, then we have Kelly and Johnson fighting for RB.  Those have been 2 of  our top players since KK took over and I think they both need to start.

I'd like to see this given a go. Then get a proper solid defensive midfielder in as well to sit in front and protect them

Cahills brilliant but would cost far too much id have a complete make over this summer.

Sell Skrtel, Konchevsky, Soto, Insua, Agger, Draby, Aurielo and retire Carra

Id try bringing in Kjaer (Wolfsburg) Sakho (PSG) and have Kelly, Wilson and Wisdom in CD, Johnson and Flanagan as RB and Cissokho and Robinson as LB

Johnson, Flanagan
Kjaer, Kelly, Sakho, Wilson, Wisdom
Cissokho, Robinson

I really rate Cahill. Infact I'd have him starting for England. Ferdinand is finished due to injury and imo Cahill is better than Dawson and Jagielka. Bolton know they can't hold onto him and so will be looking for £15-20m. Arsenal and Spurs will both be in for him aswell imo.

Agger is clearly our best centre back but I'd still keep hold of him because of how good he is when fit. He's averaging something like 26 games a season since signing for us but this season has been more frustrating than most because he's been in and out more than even he would have expected and you also have the fact that Hodgson wanted to sell him which was ridiculous.

Skrtel and Carragher have their good and bad days in equal measure but neither are good enough to be regular starters imo. The Greek has earned his new one year contract but even he has started making more ridiculous errors than normal recently.

Having sadi all that I think we may need 2 new centre halves. :D

Cahill would be my number one target aswell for the centre of defence. He's a top centre half, he's clam and composed good on the ball, very good in the air and he's no slouch when it comes to pace, think it was Andy Carroll who said he's the toughest centre half he's come up against in his short career.

That would give us Skrtel (who for me looks a total different player under Kenny), Agger, Carragher, Cahill and young Martin Kelly who is no stranger to this position. Well enough cover in my opinion.

At right back we'd have Johnson, Flanagan and Martin Kelly (to fill in if need be, maybe even first choice).

At left back we'd have a new signing, Aurelio who has another year left and young Jack Robinson.

I'd be happy with that much strength in each position, something we haven't had in years.

i agree with everything else but this portion. Robinson is untried and we're yet to see if he is capable of making the same impact as the 2 young right-backs.

secondly, Aurelio is unreliable when it comes to fitness. if anything, he should be sold if a decent bid comes in for him. but should no new left-back makes his way to Anfield, then it's a blessing that Johnson is capable of playing there as well.

anyone has any updates on Insua's situation and whether he wishes to stay?

Who's going to sign Aurelio mate?. Let's be honest no one in their right minds are going to sign Aurelio, so we are stuck with him until 2012 when his contract expires.

My whole post is with the belief of a new left back being brought in, I'm not looking at it from any other angle whatsoever.

oh yeah i missed the "new signing" bit :D
maybe some club in S.America or Italy.
who knows our owners might surprise us and buy Bale. considering the way they have gone about their business, we've to expect the unexpected.

To be honest, half the squad look different players under Kenny.

Skrtel for me is a frustrating player. He has his excellent games but he also has games when he looks like a pub player. We need better imo or we need to sign a really good ball player to play alongside him and compliment him if Agger is out injured.

Carragher should not be a regular starter from now on and shouldn't have been for some time. It's his versatility that has kept him in the side at times as his constant hoofing has a negative effect on our style of play. He's excellent for games when we have our backs against the wall but not in games when we're dominating possession.

i have no idea why some of the guys keep stating that Carra
shouldnt be in the team wk in wk out.
everytime i see him play, he always come in with important tackle.
most recent was the game vs chelsea when judas was about to pull the trigger.

if its age, well, Maldini played well into his 40's for AC.
Carra is like 33 ? he take good care of his body, dont drink dont party, so he should be good for
a few more years. Didnt Hyppia played for us nearing his mid 30's ?

we've been linked to Rolando from FC Porto. anyone seen this guy play?
and another defender whose name has been brought up in relation to us is Subotic.
so who would you guys like to have? Rolando, Subotic or Cahill?
and Bayern are linked to Enrique now as well. officials from Munich were at St James' Park watching Enrique in Newcastle's 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

now that B'ham are relegated, 2 players spring to mind - Scott Dann and Roger Johnson.

what say you? or should we have other targets?
