This Mihaylov guy is an idiot.  He's saying that Pepe wants to leave, oh by the way you guys have an option to buy me back in the summer so when Pepe leaves I'm your guy!!

It sounds like he thinks he's going to trick his way back into the club...

heard a very strong rumour today that Reina will hand in a transfer request in the summer, regardless of where we finish in the league  :(

wouldn't shock me, question is where does he go? It's unforunate for him because he does deserve to be playing at the very top, just hope he handles himself with dignity and respects us

Barcelona. If he handed in a transfer request, Barcelona would be daft not to go for him. Then watch him overtake Casillas in the spain goal.

yeh, makes sense, perfect opportunity for him to win a shedload of trophies and return to his homeland I guess. He might finally make his stamp on the Spanish national side as well. If thats what happens I'd wish him all the best anyway :)

Im hoping he stays though. He is one of my all time favourites, one of Rafas best ever signings as far as im concerned. I think he will stay as well, the club should go all out to ensure he stays.

If the rumours are true that he wants to leave, I truly don't see what the fuss is.
Let him go.... I think he's a VERY good GK but I for one have never bought into the Great Pepe Love-in. I appreciate him of course (clangers and all) but........

he IS replaceable.... He's brought stability to a problematic position for us in the last few years but there is a reason that he's behind both Casillas and Valdez in the Spanish pecking order. Sometimes, being reds, we're justifiably and understandably blinkered and biased towards our own players.

But in the cold light of day, he does have some fairly glaring weaknesses.

Would still prefer for him to stay as it would mean one less player required to blood into the squad as well as maintain some measure of stability.

But no, I wouldn't lose too much sleep if he decides to go. Just hope that he handles it better than Torres and gives our management and scouts plenty of notice of his intentions so that we can start searching now.

No room for unhappy players in our squad, we are bad enough without having a leader in the team wanting away.

The Spanish exodus from the Benitez era is complete when Reina leaves.

Goalies are only as good as the defense in front of them.

He isn't behind Valdez in the spain pecking order :;):

Other than that, I agree most with your post, but I don't think he is easily replaceable.

Think the writing is on the wall tbh.
He hasnt looked happy for me in ages.

If he isnt we do need to look elsewhere. Its a shame but its a new era and we have to have players that are wanting to be here.

Agreed. As long as he leaves with the right sentiments. I.e. like Alonso did rather than Torres.

there was a good bit on the radio the other day about this, it seems to me he is going to leave, its hard to pick out why he is leaving at this time, we have more money to spend and things could be very good next year, i dont think its so he can get a starting spot in the spain team, yes he see the CL as the place to be but in truth i can only see him to going the gooners or man u if thats what he is looking for, the big teams in spain are set with their keepers.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish hopeful of persuading Pepe Reina to remain at Anfield

Kenny Dalglish is confident Pepe Reina will take to the stadium he could have called home on Sunday feeling more positive about his and Liverpool’s future than he has at any point in the past 12 months.

Daily Telegraph  15 Apr 2011

The Spain international was the subject of a £23 million bid from Arsenal last summer as Arsène Wenger attempted to solve his goalkeeping crisis and eventually only agreed to remain at Anfield as long as an escape clause permitting him to leave this year for around £20 million was inserted into his contract.

The 28 year-old has made no secret of the fact that a tempestuous year for Liverpool which may well end in failure to qualify for Europe has further tested his patience. That prompted speculation both Arsenal and Manchester United may attempt to sign him this summer.

Dalglish clearly remains hopeful of persuading the Spaniard that, under the guidance of the club’s new American owners, Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool are capable of equipping him with team-mates befitting his status as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world.

“Whatever he feels about us going in the right direction or not is up to him, but he does not look too unhappy to me,” said Dalglish. “I have always believed he is one of the best in the Premier League, if not the best, and maybe even in [world] football. ”

That the Scot stands any chance at all of persuading Reina not to follow Fernando Torres out of Anfield is down to the work done at boot room and boardroom level since FSG ended the hated regime of Tom Hicks and George Gillett in October.

John Henry and Tom Werner have provided the club with a clear structure off the field, while the signings of Andy Carroll and Luis Suárez on transfer deadline day cushioned even the blow of losing Torres.

The only issue still remaining for the Americans is the future of Dalglish himself, appointed as caretaker in January. Talks over a permanent deal started more than three weeks ago.

“There is the outstanding issue with myself, but that is the least important one,” said Dalglish. “Everything will be sorted out. I am perfectly relaxed about the position. It is not my decision about my future, but I am just happy to be here.”
