It's a bad timing in a sense that the mancs will be looking for a starting keeper in the summer as well. Hopefully Pepe has the sense not to go to them. I do think that if he go he will go to Barcelona. Nevertheless we will be in the market competing with the mancs for a new goalkeeper. I hope that if he does leave for 20 million our owners do what they can to get Manuel Neuer in before the Mancs get hold of him.

Neuer is one of the best keepers in Europe at the moment. Ironic that he faces the Scum in the semi-final....

Mancs have been linked with the young keeper at Athletico Madrid who does look handy. End of day its up to Reina and we are building a new team at Liverpool now so he may feel its time to move on. We will find a good goalie and Reina will bring in decent coin to re invest in the side. After what happened with Torres I think we can stop going in a hot sweat when a player wants to leave, they can all be replaced and often for the better.

only because of the new owners mate... can you imagine us spending 58 million on 2 players to replace Torres under the previous regime?

Is he just missing having some other Spaniards around?

Anyway if he wants out then let him go. We are building a new team for the future under Kenny now and I can't be arsed with any player that isn't in it 100%.

No they'd say, play n'gog  :D

I hope to God he stays because I honestly believe he's the best keeper in the league, and possibly in the world.  If he goes, we need to find a really talented keeper or we will be in big trouble. If he goes, I imagine it will be to Barca. Maybe we can trade for Valdez  :D

Haha I don't really know who we would go after.  We may just end up pulling up a back up keeper like Gulasci and seeing what he can do.  If he goes tho, I will be worried about our keeper spot for a good amount of time.

agreed. By selling Torres we've shown that we can sell a big name and replace them easily. OK, replacing a goal keeper can be a tough one, but we'll do it if we have to.

LIVERPOOL are ready to hand keeper Pepe Reina a £10,000-a-week pay rise to keep him out of the clutches of Manchester United.

And Dutch star Dirk Kuyt is poised to sign a new deal that will keep him at Anfield for the rest of his career.

It’s the clearest sign yet that caretaker boss Kenny Dalglish WILL be handed the role full-time by American owner John Henry, who is delighted with the Scot’s impact since he replaced Roy Hodgson.

Reina gave Kopites a major scare last week when he refused to rule out a summer move, confessing he is desperate for regular Champions League football. United, searching for a long-term successor for soon-to-retire Edwin van der Sar, head the queue of clubs in the running for one of Europe’s best keepers.

But the Spaniard’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon is to meet Liverpool’s top brass next month to discuss a pay rise that will see Reina pocket £110,000 a week.

That’s hugely reassuring for Kopites, who have already seen one hero-worshipped Spaniard – Fernando Torres – leave Anfield this year.

And the feelgood factor will be increased by the news Kuyt wants to finish his career on Merseyside.

10,000 pound a week raise doesn't seem like it would be that important to Reina.  Sure it's an incentive, but I think what's most important to Reina is playing good football with a good club.

It's probably to remove the release clause.

chuffed to see him celebrating with the lads when we scored. Dunno about the summer but it's at least encouraging for him to be smiling. If he does go it will be in response to our summer activity so if we make moves for our targets early doors he'll see the efforts being made and commit
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Hopefully he'll sign it as a last thank you to the fans. Then City United Arsenal Barca and pretty much every other CL team across europe will start a bidding war. I doubt hed be afraid to price himself out of a move to a CL team, if indeed he wants to go.

I think he is missing the spanish influence.

Thing is, surely he would be willing to see what our summer activity is like in the transfer market before making any descision?

He understands where Kenny and the club look to be aiming for and its an exciting time for LFC, yea we are not in the CL and maybe not even in europe, but there could be some serious talent coming to the club in the summer.
