We are seeing a gradual progression.  Critically now, we need to sort out Roy's mental block away from home.  The longer he goes with his woeful record, the worse it will get.

Newcastle away, with caretakers in charge, and a squad gutted at losing their manager will present a great chance to get a welcome (and only our second) away win of the season.

I do think we can finish top four this season, but we must now string together a strong set of results, at least 4 wins back to back, to get amongst it again.

That will take us to the Jan window, where who knows what will happen....not even Roy I am guessing.

compared to what though? The begginning of the season? That still isn't good enough is it? Making Anfield a fortress was alwys the first step but can you honestly say you have faith he will turn the away form round?

I want him to but I can say everytime we're playing away I don't have any optimism at all

I honestly believe the football we are playing is better than all other than a couple of performances last year.

We are passing and moving much better and are generally a lot more offensive, home and away.  Against Aston Villa there where some lovely passing moves, little triangles all over the pitch played at a great tempo.  This comes from working hard on the training pitch.

Lucas has improved beyond all belief and his partnership with Mereiles is starting to look really promising.

The results have not been great, but surely everyone can see that we are getting better?  We should have got something from the Spurs game and we will beat Newcastle.  IF we do will people start cutting our manager a bit of slack or will it just be  the same old "well we should have beat them anyway" ????
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

benny you have made it very clear with your post that even if roy was to go on and win the fa cup and the prem this year you would still not like him and think we could do better. think its time to move on mate and not keep playing the devil's advocate.

Lets not get carried a way here ffs . Yes we are playing better football at home and yes we do seem to be improving . Lets not forget where we are improving from though , we were second from bottom a couple of weeks ago .So we did need to play better or we were in the :censored: . Lets just see how we get on in the away games hey ,because they are the games that are knocking us back a step when we seem to be taking one forward at home . Don't let what the manager say's dampen your expectations ,because we should expect to be challenging and we should expect to be making atleast fourth in this poor league this year . Managers have been sacked for not meeting expectations , Roy should be no different , we are not fulham .

Im sorry but how have I made it clear ? Because I still have reservations which have yet be squashed by the manager ? Once again its nice to see you can't have an opinion of the manager without someone coming up with a statement like " no matter what he does " . So far he hasn't done enough and it's still not enough . If he did win prem then I would be as happy as the next person and he would earn all the praise in the end . But the chances of that happening currently are paper thin .

some performances have been better, some have been a lot worse. On a balance I would say it's fair to say that not a lot has changed in comparison to last season, I still don't feel confident going into games and last season I was very much the same. The reason I'm not 'cutting him slack' is nothing to do with a previous manager. We are Liverpool FC, the position we are currently in simply isn't good enough.

Maxi looks a steal at £1.5m. He has been superb recently. Lucas & Ngog are actually starting to look like footballers and are growing in stature with every game and that is the hardest I have seen Babel work since he joined LFC (challenge in 1st 2-3 mins against Warnock last night was evidence he was well up for it).

These improvements can only be down to confidence and individual man management a lot of which Woy has to take credit for.

Three significantly improved league performances in a row I've counted. That at least gives cause for some degree of optimism. Before we can say we've definitively turned the corner, however, that will have to become the norm. We should know because last season reinforced that message more than any other.

Its a good point.
This sort of performance did happen last season but we never did get a consistency to our performances and results.
The Newcastle game is one that could indicate whether we are actually developing into a good side.
The away form has to improve and if it does and we carry on playing the way we are at home then we will start climbing the table and get to a position that this squad should be in.

sorry benny, i forgot the "lol" in my post so it reads a bit harsh on you.
look i was ready to shot down Roy just as mush as most members on this forum when we were looking like :censored:, but i have got to say that in the last 4 games i can see that we are starting to look better, god hell yes our away forum is shocking....but hey thats nothing new is it (looking back to last year) but the spurs game did look like we should have won it.
