Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I suppose he is entitled to his opinion but for me it is his self centered reasons, even though both managers had really good spells they also both played force to their own downfalls but their was a period were Liverpool were playing their best I had seen since the 80's and It wasn't with the Houllier team it was with a team consisting of

                  Riena

Arbeloa     Carra    Agger/Hyppia     Aurellio

Kuyt         Masch       Alonso         Riera/Bena

                 Gerrard

                            Torres

and this was down to one man

     Rafa Benitez.

Carra has it wrong and as I say say it's self centered reasons not football reason

Rafa's the man!!!

Cant see how its a dig at Rafa, he simply brought up that a few of the lads had the experience of getting over the finish line in big competitions, pundits mention "winning mentality" all the time and even if he did have a go at Rafa, then so what? The lad has a right to have an opinion ffs, but from reading that I dont think hes having a go at anyone and people are getting their pantaloons in a series of knots over nothing.

It all boils down to the fact Rafa wasn't going to give Carra a new contract and that's a fact!!!

agreed mate, but he had a slight dig at him if you read between the line (so they say :P).

However, I do think its a good interview and he said what he thought it is.

Carra said himself last year that he would leave if he ended up on the bench in his final year of his contract

cant see the issue, he is fully entitled to his opinion.
I had a season ticket in the treble season and we were f'ckin brilliant.
We beat united home and away.
Everton home and away.
Smashed Arsenal 4-0 at anfield.
Scored a shed load of goals and won 3 trophies beating the likes of Barcelona Porto Roma, and then Arsenal in the FA cup.

You guys crack me up. I think Carra knew Houllier and Rafa better than anyone on here, and he was saying he liked Houllier more as manager... we know Rafa was quite a cold man, and maybe Carra didnt like that.

Hardly rates people now having a go at a player who has given his life to this club

It seems that Carra has an attachment to Houllier as he was the manager he raised him and influenced most as young player so its understandable that Houllier is his favourite manager. Think Carra should remember though it was under Benitez that he was switched to centre back and made his reputation as a great player, under Houllier he was only considered a decent full back by most people, in fact i remember quite a few people calling for him to be replaced on the forum around 2003/2004

Yep spot on - under Rafa Carra became one of the best CB's in the prem - under GH at times he wasnt even in the team and then playing at left back .
