This 37 year old I don't mind playing for us mate... He can have a similar effect that Teddy Sheringham had for the mancs... intelligent goal poacher... always at the right time at the right place...

yep, Tuesdays 12.30 in the pension queue at the post office

:D

Hey! can you score two goals against Real Madrid? I guess not...

to be fair maureen did say before the madrid v milan game that inzaghi was the only milan player that he feared. What happens pippo comes off the bench and scores two goals however the 2nd goal was a yard offside surprise surprise.

Cahill is an England international and has been linked with many top clubs, ive watched Turner a few times and hes real class, they are fairly young and english.

David Bentley is an excellent player, a lot of money has been spent on him, he was doing well and on the fringes of the England team, fairly young and English

Hasn't Bentley been absolutely awful for Spurs though?

Swap Turner (too slow) for Shawcross & Bentley for J.Henderson and we'll have had a very good January sale.

the bolton chairman has come out today and admitted that they may have to sell him in january. i rate him but as he's english you're probably looking at £10m+.

Rafa tried to sign Turner before... we were quoted 12m!

English players are too overpriced and very often not all that good.

id rather buy 2 or 3 quality players for between 15 to 20 million than 5 or 6 for 7 or 8 million. Our squad is full of accrington stanley rejects we need proper quality players now and maybe one or two young up and coming never mind building for the future we need 2get back on par with everyone else.

Roy on January window

"Where we are badly off is if something goes badly wrong at the back, where we don't have a lot of players to cover," said Hodgson.

"Up front if Fernando or David Ngog are not able to play we don't have options in terms of out-and-out centre-forwards.

"Those are a couple of areas where we need to look for help in the January transfer window."

Im a bit surprised that he thinks we would need more cover at the back.  Of course it would be nice, but not a priority i wouldn't think.
We have Carra, The Greek and Skrtel at CB.  Agger should be back eventually.  (after xmas maybe).  But Kelly and Wilson can also play there if really neccesary.
Carra and Kelly can also do a job at either LB or RB.

I think we should be focusing on a very good LW and a good strong striker.  (Not sure were that would leave Joe Cole)

Cahill, A Young, N'Zogbia, Fenando LLorente and a Full Back (TBC) please Roy.

I've mentioned this before but I would maybe also take a punt at Hudo Rodallego

The problem is that historically the January transfer window offers no value for money, good players tend not to want to leave mid-season.

With this in mind I think Hodgson is onto a loser before he even tries. If he does buy it most probably will be a player either not worth much or overpriced, this will inflame the supporters. If he doesn't buy on the reason that the money is best saved for the summer, he inflames the supporters for not buying again.

I reckon he has a very small margin of success come January.
