What a completely load of toss. The lad could walk into any club he wants - Ure, Arsenal or any top Italian or Spanish whereas we're struggling to put a top 4 (top7?) squad together that clearly needs 2-3 years to gel.

If he walked tomorrow could you really blame him? Not really.

Thommo you really do talk tosh sometimes, go to bed.

your a bit wrong there mate, 90% of all sports reporters are now based up north.

Where in gods name did you get that from , are you serious . Don't talk w@nk lakes lad .

most got shifted out o london at the start of the year mate, most media is now run from around manchester area and birmingham area.

best was for them to save money is to move the reporters and out of london. and in truth not much happens in london itself to do with sport unless its the fa and bits like that.

But that's just the BBC you are talking about who shifted to Salford right? Most of that wasn't even meant to happen till next year. I know because I went for a job and they mentioned most of the relocations are happening this or next year.

Of course he could go to arsenal or wherever. But would he get the love he gets here? No.

To be honest saint if that was really the case I don't think Pepe would have made those comments (assuming he did). That fact that he has made them despite the change of ownership speaks volumes.

Apparently he has a 20 million release clause. For a goalkeeper in general it may be considered quite a handsome amount but for Pepe I don't think it's that huge a fee... most top clubs won't bat an eyelid to buy Pepe for that amount...

did a double take there meself too, igor....

as far as pepe is concerned its pretty much the same noises that torres and gerrard, and probably one or two others, were making in the summer. he likes the club and everything that goes with it but he wants to make sure we're going in the right direction. he hasn't made any mention of, or even any allusion to, managers or coaches or the quality of the tortilla or anything. its just typical footballer 'i want to win stuff as well as be stinking rich, drive an aston martin and hump supermodels' rhetoric.

the fact that players increasingly make these veiled threats is a little distasteful though, in my opinion, and does nothing to endear them to me.

You could understand him maybe saying these things before the takeover as everyone was sick to death of the situation. But now? After the takeover when the new owner has already come out and said he wants us to be mixing it up with the best teams in the country again?

Sorry but I don't think these noises are related to the ambitions of the club.

no need to apologise, bav. yes we have new owners, but have they done anything yet apart from appoint a new 'director of football strategy'?. they've said lots of nice things just as H+G did, i guess pepe just wants to make sure they don't forget. personally i'd be disappointed if everyone was just sitting back now and pretending everything is rosy - there's lots of work to be done and the players know it as much as anyone.

Have to agree with Andy, I think it's more a reminder than a threat
