ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm not saying you and your ilk won't be happy if we win a trophy or finish higher in the league than 7th. I'm just looking forward to you all wriggling and wringing your hands and trying to work out what the feck to say about it

Like I've said a few times, IMHO before Xmas we will be in and around the top six or seven. Given that's where we finished last season, I'm wondering how people will justify calling Roy a sh!t manager.

Things are looking more positive and Im optimistic about 4th and I hope Roy does it but I cannot ignore the fact that IMO he has been terrible so far.  A lot is not down to him but he definitely has not helped himself.  And to highlight this is despair at our manager.  Some have gone completely over the top but sometimes its very difficult to defend him.

Its insane to want us to lose and anybody who say that that is either off on one in the heat of the moment or has lost fact that they are a Liverpool fan not not a Rafa or Roy fan.

But I will not defend him when he clearly hasnt helped himself or given me any confidence at all that he is the man to return us to our perch

Here is what people will say -

Well done , Get the feck in there , Brilliant , You beauty etc etc etc

And that is all that matters .

The problem is Mick - he has to do it , no point talking about it currently as if its a given when so far what we have witnessed this season is far from anywhere near that .

After Chelsea we do have some winable games but so were Blackpool and Everton etc .

Its going to be a long and bumpy road and we have to show massive improvements and the manager has to change his set up - it worked for the majority of the time against Blackburn but not at Bolton as we started to creep back deep once again .

Not only is it geting more ridiculous, it is feck all to do with the thread. There is a perfectly good Rafa Benitez thread in the area of the forum where it ought to be, why people can't just post there is beyond me. In certain threads you get carded if you derail them, in others you don't.

I agree it does get a little tedious but if Dawson was given a card for dredging up rafa again the non-posse brigade would of complained of bias :D .......it appears as mods we can't do right for wrong ..... :;):

But to be fair this thread seems to be very much on track so what's you big beef now?

F..u...c...k it, it's time to face facts. This is a really sh...i...t forum. It has been for ages, this thread is a joke, it has been for ages, and most of the others are as well. It used to be a kwality place to chat football and there's some sound posters/people in here but it's gone to total rat sh...i...t. We just go round in circles. Clearly this place cannot function as a football forum until we have a new manager. Surely all the other forums out there can't be in the same state as this one? I figure thay can't be so as much as I like(d) coming in here to chat footy I reckon it's time to take this off me favourites and steer clear until such a time that a new manager comes in and then maybe some real football debate will replace the cat fighting, the sanctimony, the preaching and the flame wars.

Yep I like reading Scotts posts as well. He posts exclusively about football which is a bit of a rarity. I used to do that as well but there was fewer and fewer people left to talk to :D .

I have to disagree with the last point Mick why would 7th position be good enough for Hodgson when it wasnt good enough for the last guy? Sorry but the reason for changing the manager was to return to the top 4 not continue on in the mediocrity of mid table. The last couple of games have shown some signs of improvement and just as importantly heart, I hope Roy Hodgson can really go from strength to strength because he seems like a nice bloke and I too have been disappointed with the grief hes got - but that doesnt mean that the absolute clusterf*ck of the first 3 months of 10/11 should be swept under the carpet.

Tonight is an important game but Sunday is the acid test I think. As long as we show on Sunday that we can compete with Chelsea, even if we lose I will be happy because it will show progress from the side that looked so uninspired against Blackpool and Everton. After that we have a run of winnable games and like you said we should be comfortable by Xmas, but by then I think its not too much to ask that we really shift through the gears and push on for the top four for the 2nd half of the season. I still maintain that the current squad is good enough to at least challenge for the CL places though this season is definitely tougher than last year with the talent City and Spurs have available but a few inspired signings from Mr Comolli in the window and fingers crossed we'll be back where we belong.

3 wins of 3. Things are looking good, but I wouldnt hold my breath just yet. Judge Hodgson on the next 10 games from Blackburn Rovers. 4th game - hope he proves us wrong by not losing to scumski!
