in all fairness all the players have been poor this season, he looked slightly better in the last game just like the rest of the players so hopefully the better performances will bring out the best in all our players.

Our first 11 is actually quite good, and far better than the early performances have shown. Players like Meireles, Lucas, Cole, Maxi, Johnson and Torres are all attack minded so in our early games where we were playing the ball in our own half they were looking poor. Hopefully if we become a bit more attack minded then we'll see the best of these players.

Hopefully the assist for Torres will give him some confidence going forward. We all know he has the ability although for me I'd prefer to see him in a more central position.

To be honest though, as others have said, I'm not going to single Cole out. The whole team has been poor and lacking confidence.

Everyone has been :censored: this season.

I dont expect cole to buck the trend, however it has a slight kewell feel about it for me. I really really wanted cole to come in. But the real Joe cole seems to be have been lost on transit

relax. im hoping he can reproduce the Luis Garcia effect. we really miss the Spaniard. he scored a numerous important goals and i doubt we would have made it that far in the ECL if not for him.

The real Joe Cole disappeared when he had his serious injury - since then he has never been the same player

that isnt left wing.
Being on the left of a 3 man attack is totally different to being wide left in the formation we play.
I have said for a while i think we should be playing 4-3-3 with the players we have.
Its the system Kuyt plays for Holland and even Babel appears better in that system.
Cole is used to it too.

he is a good player, and it looks like he will need time to get going. People who listened to SG say that he is as good as Messi need their heads tested (as does SG if he actually believes it).

good player but nowhere near great.

We also need to get away from these rag rumours that he only came to us because we offered x more money than anyone else. unless there is proof of this, its just another cheap shot

He may have more natural ability than some of the players in the current squad but after 10+ years of watching him for West Ham, Chelsea and England there's never been enough end product for me.  Would like Pacheco to get a run behind Torres to see if he's worth getting excited about as some of us think/hope he could be. More palatable than giving Cole 90k a week for 5-10 goals a season and a few pointless flicks.

I think the young lad should be getting ten minutes here and there more often than he is.
I suppose results have dictated that he hasnt been able to do that.

I wouldn't blame if he came here for the money, a job is a job - if a rival company to your employer offered you 30% more than you are on, then you'd probably take it too.

Does he make our best 11 though?
Not for me, not unless he starts to improve.

Why do you care? Beeing a football player is just a job.
