Different kinds of players but obviously better than either Lucas or Poulsen whichever way you look at it. (Maybe the player weanted out, who knows.) That said, I think we overpaid by about a half and to spend that kind of money considering the risks (no football for over 6 months, his injury record overall, suitability to English game) and considering the alternatives, was downright daft. For your £20m you expect more certainty about what you're going to get. Along with the signing of Keane (when Arshavin was available for less), his signing was a critical mistake of the Benitez era. We had to get it right because of who he was replacing - Alonso. I remember at the time we signed Aquilani, Sneijder went for about £13m, a player many of us on here advocated, and he's since gone on to become perhaps the best player in his position in world football, worth about three Aquilanis.

you talk absolute shi'te. How do u know he wasnt good enough. He wasnt given enough time. Plus u would rather keep poulsen lucas than aqua. Let me tell you if he stays fit 20 million will end up being cheap. Plus hes a superb impact sub aswell. Lets see how well he does at juve.

That wouldn't work mate.

Babel and Cole would just about break up any meaningful attack.

I'd sadly have to agree with Ancelotti on Cole. Skillful, but lacking in discipline.

Jova hardly starts games.

To be honest, we've been screwed out wide for a long time now. Riera had a great second season on the left. This co-incided with our title run a couple years back.

Of all the options, Kuyt is the only one who I'd stick with. The one thing he will do is track back for the ball.

On second thoughts, I might just agree with you on that formation when playing teams we should be easily beating.

Playing well in Seria A and playing well in the Premiership are two very different things, especially considering a guy as athletically weak as Aqualani.

FFS, players in Italy can get away with playing into their late 30s.

How stup1d!
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

In fairness, so can Giggs and Scholes, and so would Hyypia if we hadn't let him go.
