Get a grip ffs.  Fully expect us to come out better in the 2nd half, I don't know if we'll win but that was bad.  Service or no service Torres has played awful.  Torres marking was awful too, there's no excuse for standing behind someone on a corner as the ball comes directly at him.. even if it didn't it's a schoolboy error to defend a corner from behind the attacking player.

He has said we are second best, I can't disagree with that!
We need to get stuck into these feckers, and we are sitting back and admiring them.

Smith said we had none of the ball and were lucky not to be heavily behind, Sorry but before the goal I can remember them having one f*cking chance, and that was when Konchesky slipped, Nani got in then ballsed it up. Then a stat came up that said we had more possession so he came off with "Yeah but its all about what you do with the possession" Utd had done feck all at that point to, but you'd think it had been a siege. Hes the biggest c*nt on Sky, worse than Gray, Redknapp or anyone. I hope someoe smashes tht big gonzo neb of his right into his face.

Disagree about konchesky he is playing no worse than anyone else in this team!
Cole needs to be behind Torres and Maxi as usual is having no effect on the game, i will be completely gob smacked if babbel does not come on for the second half.
The only good thing about conceeding that goal is it might put a boot up the teams :censored: and get them being more positive going forward!!
The real thing missing from this team is self belief, it left us last season and still hasn't come back!!

Zidane wrote:Meireles into midfield and Stevie up front in the 2nd half imo.  Apart from the goal which was entirely Torres' fault we played alright, don't get all this nonsense being spouted really..  It's Man U away more than likely we're setup to get a draw and play on the counter, if we score we score but the plan was a draw I'm quite sure of that.

Torres has been sh!t lets be honest here, service or no service he looks completely off the pace and it's common sense to not stand behind the player you're marking on a corner.  We'll come out better in the 2nd half so I'm not gonna go about whinging it up quite yet cause I think we've played well and if it weren't for that goal I would say we were looking at nicking a goal in the 2nd half.

Really einstein!

There's no rhyme or reason to our play, whether in possession or in the non-possession phase. We have the majority of possession and we have not created one chance. Our top striker is isolated and has hardly touched the ball; we have no cover for the back four, we do not press the ball, are sitting too deep, being dragged about the park, and yet we are not playing badly?

Dude, please.....
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

Last year when we did zonal marking, rafa insist no one will guard the post during corners. Just now before they scored, I was screaming put someone at the flecking post but again it was ignored and WTF. Why is toreros guarding berbatov? Wouldnt it make more sense to have a defender on the forward? Need to sort this out as we were all over the place....

The best change we could make is putting Meireles in midfield and moving Stevie up front.

Ah a field day for the best fans in the World :)

Anyway onto the match, just in case anyone is interested in any sensible discussion. We've been very second best, but that said until the goal I was feeling reasonably happy with the way things were going. They only had the nani chance to show for a lot of pressure, and we appeared to be defending well. The goal of course has changed everything, and while Torres obviously should have done much better, I can't understand why he was the one detailed to mark Berbatov. Should be a centre halves job surely?

Konchesky has defended very well but his distribution has been awful. I think Poulsen has done well in front of the back four, while maxi and Cole have provided very little. Torres looks disinterested, but given the level of service he isn't getting you can hardly blame him.

I think we need to bite the bullet more and be prepared to commit BOTH of Gerrard and Mareiles forward. Funnily enough we were doing that before they scored and had come back into it for 10 minutes. I'd pull Maxi and get Babel on to give us a bit of pace, and other than that I'd try and get the players tr take a bit more responsibility in and around their box. Mereiles is obviously a talented player (looks good today I think) and I'd like to see him trying to make things happen for us.

Overall, though we aren't playing well with the ball it's worth remembering we are in transition and we are playing Man Utd away. The reaction of many on here is as predictable as it is saddening, but I'm hopeful we'll do better second half. 1-0 isn't by any means a disaster at this stage.

Lumbering football, no pace no incision, reapeatedly playing our way from the halfway line back to our own keeper. Christ sake has the team been instructed not to attack ? !. Seen some poor performances in recent times but never such lack of ambition .

I don't have interest in what any of them have to say, we are losing and clearly second best that's all that concerns me.

Torres looks like he would rather be sat on a beach somewhere, they look sharper, hungrier all over the pitch.
I don't care if he has had little service, he can at least try and hold the fecking ball up now and again.

Has been thus for a long time Nan, it'sjust that it's only now that some of you are realising it. You do get used to it after a few months if it's any consolation.

I would say at this stage it has nothing to with result - it is about performance ,showing up and being counted for - playing like a proud leading team in the permiership ,which we failed to do against WestBrom Bham..
