He was part of some amazing times with us but it didnt work out - he had and i think still does have the club in his heart - he knew what it meant to be the boss of Liverpool and i hope he goes onto win everything and will certainly hope he beats Spurs in the CL and goes on to knock Chelsea and Man Utd out of the comp as well .

They only time i will not wish him to do well is if we played against Inter Milan or if he ever became boss of one of our rivals .

Do you know why, because people will use it as a stick to beat our new manager with.
Ciggy is already stating that Rafa has already won 2 trophies.
He has also already lost against Athletico Madrid in the super cup.
If Rafa wins things there and Roy doesnt you know that yourself and the other fans that didnt want him to go will be all 'i told you so'
That's human nature but i think if Rafa was still at Liverpool we wouldnt have got any better.

What he would of done if he was still here is prob a debate with no conclusion - no one knows people could only guess - People have always used previous managers to beat current manager with a stick - people still bring up Shanks , Paisley , Fagan , Daggers  etc to beat Rafa with a stick its only natural - but at the moment there is also plenty of using Rafas last season as something to glorifiy anything current manager does and that just serves to discredit him and try and change history .

Did Rafa ever do anything to hurt the club ? Did he ever drag our name through the gutter ?

He always had the upmost respect for the fans and for the club so why does he not deserve a bit of respect back from the fans .

Its easy to mention last season to beat him with a stick but what about all the good things - the triumphs and big games he led us to that had us all jumping for joy .

Whatever rafa does in the positive i will post in here - its where it belongs not on the main board .

I havent once said " I Told you so " nor would i ever say it - because if Hodgson doesnt work out then i will be more gutted about us not succeeding as opposed to trying to score points against a certain fraction of people on the internet .

Rafa did nothing wrong to any of the fans nor did he harm or hurt the club - the only thing he didnt do was deliver the title we all crave - he wasnt the first and he wont be the last .

I dont expect people not to compare the two, obviously if Rafa does well and Roy doesnt i expect people who were behind him to come back and say what they feel about it.
The thing is i could see no way back from the way things went last season.
It was THAT bad. Players had stopped playing for him and he looked like he didnt know what to do to turn it round.
I havent got bad feelings towards Rafa and will still respect what he did etc but to be honest that's as far as it goes for me.
I support LFC and now he has gone that's it.

What about them now - still playing the same way and imo worse .

Not one person has come out and said the players had stopped playing for him and its pure total speculation started in media and carried on in forums like this but with no backing what so ever .

One season will forever be used to change history against Rafa

Last season was awful - it happened its gone and the reasons for it have been done to death .

He was a Liverpool manager who brought us the biggest trophy in club football and i believe by the majority he will be remembered with great respect and fondness .

Is it sh!te speculation.
I witnessed it with my own eyes. That's why every time we conceded a goal we virtually always lost the match.
The players heads had gone and they were disallusioned.
I dont need them to come and tell me to know that. It was that obvious.
I will be grateful for that night like every other fan but we cant live on that forever.
For me he didnt know how to turn it around at all.
I agree that we arent playing any better at the moment and i hope that this is just as Roy is bedding into a new job.
I wont defend Roy when i think he is doing things wrong, i have been critical of his selections and the way we are playing but i am willing to give him a chance.
Rafa had plenty of time and at the end of his tenure we were at virtual rock bottom.
The time was right for a change, whether we have the right man now remains to be seen but in my eyes i am certain that we were right to go our seperate ways with Rafa.

This is not a discussion about what happened last season - this is not what the thread is about or why he went or it was right he was gone that has all been done to death now beyond all reason , its all about how he does from now - im sure there is a majority of people who will want him to do well and will be interested in how he does at a new club - im pretty sure this thread isnt about dragging his name through the gutter once again by people who did it before .

Im sure if Kenny went back into management they would want him to do well - same with souness same with Houllier - as long as it doesnt effect us or against us .

We used to remember all our managers in a positive light and wish them well - it seems to have changed now where people want him to not succeed as they would like to say " i told you so " or " we was right to let him go " .

Rafa should and hopefully be always remembered for the good things but i think these days - internet forum days - he wont be , which is a shame .

I wish Rafa all the best.  I really hope he thumps the Mancs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Jose and barca in the Champions League.  And i hope he wins many titles for Inter.

I think he is a very underrated manager and the media over here always hated him.  It was sad the lengths they went to, to try and discredit his zonal marking or team selections.

Ill always wonder how things might have gone if only he'd been giving a proper amount of investment.  i know he bought some sh.ite players but who hasn't?  Even Fergie and Jose have made mistakes.  They just always had the money to correct them.

He did a very good job at Liverpool and Valencia.  I wish him all the best.

I dont understand why the same people have to repeat this mantra 280 times.

We heard, thanks.

Just watch, in this thread and others it will be repeated again and again.
