I think you are right but i also think he is a decent enough player and will be better than Insua.
What do you think Benny ?

Oh i think he is better than Insua - but still not the sort of player i wanted - i just look at the fact Fulham got a player like Salcido who is better than both of them and he only cost 1.5 mil .

To be fair i like Salcido and would have definitely taken him. But i am happy enough with Konchesky. He is a player that will come straight into the team and improve it.

But is the improvement going to be enough to get us back to the top 4 ? i dont think so .

if he starts at birmingham we'll have three englishmen in our back four. i can't for the life of me remember the last time that happened.

Well that's hard to say but Roy without massive money has improved what we had in that position. To be fair at this moment in time that's all we can ask.

We will have to see mate - in fairness to insua he got forward well on a number of times and did create a number of goals . We will just have to see how konchesky does .

I think Insua going forward was ok, he did create a few goals definitely.
It was going the other way that was the problem. He is too slow and to me looks to be carrying too much weight.
And one on one he got exposed by virtually every winger that he faced.
I dont think that will happen with Konchesky.

Yes he definatly looked like he was carrying too much wieght and that seemed to slow him down .

As for getting beat one on one konchesky isnt exactly the quickest nor the greatest defender as well .

Konchesky is cack and not fit to wear a red shirt
We are LFC and should be spending 20 million plus on every player whether we can afford to or not
Roy is only a stop gap until Rafa returns
We will get relegated due to how sh'it we are now

Any other nonsense I havent written there?
Please feel free to add to tha list...

i reckon he'll be a decent signing. he's got plenty of experience in the prem and a fair bit from europe last seson, as far as i know he's not injury prone and because he's english there'll be no problem with him/his family fitting in. i'd also hazard a guess he hasn't been a charlie big borrocks demanding £150 grand a week.

good, solid signing. definitely a better option than insua who imo was never gonna make the grade

Cut the guy some slack.
What ever happened to giving people a chance :p
Is he one of the best left backs around? no.
But he is back with the manager who made him produce 2 seasons of good form.
Hopefully Roy can help him again and he will turn out to be a solid left back.
I for one am backing the lad and giving him a chance.

If someone had suggested that when Rafa left ...the quality of the players we would entice to the club would be akin to Konchesky and his ilk  ,we would have been ridiculed and subsequently laughed of the forum ... yet now we are expected to accept this type of distinctly average player and consider it a decent acquisition .... pardon me if I don't reciprocate the views of the posters who expect him to move Liverpool up a level ....he wont I fervently know he will be beaten for pace time and time again ...I also believe he is considerably less aggressive in the tackle than certain posters would have you believe ..... so no I am not happy with this signing ,in truth I am positively baulking at the price we had to pay for an over the hill player who was never anything more than ok at Fulham ,but this isn't Fulham this is Liverpool and I think playing LB at Liverpool is on a completely different stratosphere than fucking Fulham ..... he will be so out of his depth he may even merit my sympathy ..........

i don't see any difference really. rafa brought in some top players - alonso, reina, torres etc etc - and he also bought in a few cheap and average (or below average) players to fill in the gaps. roy is doing the same, he's brought in quality with cole and mereiles and is filling in a gap or two with players like konchesky. to be honest though, i prefer to sign a player for 3 or 4 million who we at least know can function consistently in this league than waste money on proper rubbish like degen, kronkamp and the like.

we are looking for improvement in the squad and we have to accept its going to come slowly for a while. but at least as far as left backs go we are more solid with konchesky and aurelio than we were with insua and aurelio.

Agreed, Andy.  I can understand some people's disappointment to a certain extent, as Konchesky is never going to be a star-calibre type of signing.  But, to suggest that he's a joke of a player or that Roy has plumbed depths that Rafa would never have dreamed of doing with this signing is utter nonsense.  Rafa unquestionably signed his share of dross during his time as manager (amongst the undisputed quality players he did bring in).  In fact, making reference to Rafa in relation to this particular signing is hardly clever considering the last left back Benitez signed.  After all, if Konchesky's a joke and a 'stratosphere' below the level of Liverpool Football Club, how deep exactly should we be digging to find Andrea Dossena's level?  ???
