Hang on, major difference: Woy is managing during a period of crisis and apparantly has few resources at hand whereas Souness self distructed without any constrictions from the owners or board.

Good luck!

4M only for KONCHESKY.. good business but 4M plus 2 promising youngsters Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic ... bad business for us

What about Voronin, Morientes, Pennant, Diouf, Dossena, Riera, Lucas, and N'Gog to name a few? We've had to settle for second/third rate players like them already and I would say Konchesky and Cole are of better quality than that lot.

How many of them have come and have been sold on at either a profit or no loss at all? How much did we sign N'gog for? How much is he worth now? Didn't we make a profit on Voronin, whom we bought for nought? More or less got the money back from Dossena, and the only one I can see on that list that was a massive dud is Diouf. Gobsh*te of a player, bought for over 10 mill, and sold at a massive loss.

The difference between those players and the ones we are signing is that the ones we are now siging are a known quantity. We see them play week-in-week-out in the Prem, and they are wooden ones to put it lightly. The others were signed as potential prospects (bar Voronin) and still sold on for profit. Can you see us selling these on at a profit? No. We're signing driftwood now. We are selling quality and potential and replacing it with mediocricy. Not Roy's fault. You know who's fault it is.

You mate are a moaner and if you think half of the sh!te your trying to defend there are better than the ones coming in now then i am seriously amazed.
It doesnt matter that Voronin came for free, he was garbage and should never have been signed.
Carlton Cole is in a different league to Voronin and Ngog.
The previous managers left backs hardly set the world alight.
7 million on Dossena  :no
I would rather Konchesky all day, and by the way did we sh!te more or less get the money back on Dossena.

I'm a moaner? You're f*cking right I'm a moaner. So long as those Yank c*nts are destroying this club, I've every f*cking right to moan, and if it annoys you, I'll moan some more. Clear? Grand!

:sleep

I dont think anyone is disputing the fact that the owners need to go.
But if we sign players that are better than the ones that we had last season then for me that is a step forward.
Moan all you like but i will choose to feel happier about this upcoming season - as i cant control the fact that we are stuck with these owners.

He makes me cringe and is not even remotely funny.

By the way in another post you stated that you would have been happy signing Dossene ahead of Konchesky...what was this based on ?
Had you seen Dossena play or was it the fact that he was an italian international ?

The best thing that can happen for Paul Konchesky as far as the forum is concerned is that he actually plays a couple of games. People who are calling him a "joke of a signing" will see that he gets up and down the line well, snaps a good tackle in and has an excellent left foot. No doubt he'll take the odd set-piece (which he is very good at), and they'll notice that he is good in the air and very rarely gets skinned by anybody. Once they've had a look at him, they'll realise that were it not for the fact that he has been behind Englands best player relative to his peers in World football, he would have had a good few International caps as well.

Those that want to look will instantly notice that he has a great attitude as well, he's a 100% merchant who is very consistent and gives his all in every single match. They won't see him shouting his mouth off in the papers, or demanding a huge contract. What they'll notice is that Konchesky is an excellent pro, who is a much better fullback than the lad who played there for us the majority of last season.

I reckon Paul Konchesky will be looking at this move as the absolute pinnacle of his career and he'll be excited by it like he's never been excited before. He'll want so much to do well it'll be like being a kid all over again, and all those hard lessons he's learnt in his career will be put to good use at the best club in the land. Hopefully for his sake he doesn't read this forum and see the way some people are carrying on, but if he does he shouldn't overly let it concern him and I'm sure he won't.

Some people think Paul Konchesky is a good signing who will improve our team from the very first match he plays. I'm one of them.

We have bought Konchesky because of our financial situation - he is the best that we could afford - that doesnt mean he is good enough - he is 29 and been around for years and has played for a number of clubs and if he was good enough a top team would of paid for him by now .

All that, plus he'll keep the place neat and tidy. :nod

I think you are right but i also think he is a decent enough player and will be better than Insua.
What do you think Benny ?

Oh i think he is better than Insua - but still not the sort of player i wanted - i just look at the fact Fulham got a player like Salcido who is better than both of them and he only cost 1.5 mil .

To be fair i like Salcido and would have definitely taken him. But i am happy enough with Konchesky. He is a player that will come straight into the team and improve it.
