Gerrard looked a totally different player once Rooney went off and he ran the show and got two cracking goals - hopefully he isn't injured .

Agreed as good as Rooney is he really needs to stop dropping so deap and start acting like someone whos leading the line 4 his country. He feels he needs 2 do everything its getting boring now seeing him going up 2 the defenders and asking 4 the ball. Thier premier league players they can play footy aswell Rooney. i swear he thinks he still plays with his mates in school

If he is free of the shackles of CM then there is every chance

the thing is it's a catch 22 situation that largely depends on the opposition. if you look at the goals last night the first one was coming from deep which he could do from central midfield and the second one he was further up the pitch. infact he was the furthest england player forward.

the thing is, if he plays in the hole and gets the right supply he's dynamite. the problem last season was we didn't have the players to get the ball to him in the right areas. he ended up playing with his back to the goal a lot of the time which completely restricted what he could do.

showed what he could do in terms of goalscoring when he was in a free role though.

Yes.

For us, he's of more use in the centre of the park. It all depends on the context of the team he's playing in and the quality of the players around him.

With better central midfielders behind him, we can afford the luxury of playing him up top behind Nando. For LFC, we need him involved in the build up play, IMO.

YES

I'll still stick to my guns. People forget we're talking about 2 different contexts here. England has players who can pass, Barry and fat Frank are capable passers. In LFC, Lucas couldn't pass for nuts. Aquilani doesn't have enough steel to play as CM. Poulsen is another defensive midfielder. Joe Cole is not gonna play there. The only logical option to make our team click is Gerrard. If Gerrard doesn't play there the team's not gonna click. If the team doesn't click Gerrard's not gonna get enough service let alone have the chance to score or even set-up for Torres. It's as simple as that lads. We have seen the symptoms last season, why would we not try to remedy it.
