Purslow or somebody probably said "we wouldn't let Gerrard go for less than £70m and that doe not mean we would necessarily sell him for that price. It is just the usual load of summertime b.ollucks !!!!!!

                   Maxi/Kuyt                 Cole/Jovanovic
                                      Torres

Although I have to admit, after signing Cole I'm finding it more and more difficult to see where Aquilani fits into this side.

I'd like to see us line up with a proper 4-3-3 this season

                                 Reina

Johnson          Carragher     Agger           ??

                     Gerrard      Aquilani

                               Cole
Kuyt                                                 Jovanovic
                              Torres

I think Aquilani has been written off too early as someone who cannot play in an orthodox midfield two.  I hope he gets a chance to play in there more regularly.  I think he's an intelligent player and can be good enough to play in there for us.  He's a big lad and once he gets used to the style of play over here he shouldn't really have a problem with being able to mix it.

i like that line up, but there isn't much cover for the back 4 there. gerrard doesn't like the DM / holding slot, he likes to bomb forward, and io think, irrespective of roys instruction, gerrard will venture forward a lot. That would leave aquilani  - the tough tackler that he his - the only protection for the back 4.

I honestly dont think you can play that front 6, and would need a mash / lucas / proper DM in there to stop us getting caught on the break.

Stuff the defence let's just score more goals than the opposition! I'm almost getting excited.

Bit of a sigh of relief more than anything for me. For a while there, I was certain he was gone to Madrid. He's obviously thought better of it. I'm not worried about Torres in the slightest either. After hearing his comments during the WC and seeing that scarf round his neck holding the trophy, never a doubt he was staying regardless if Steve went or not. Mascherano on the other hand...

Agreed, I think Torres will stay especially with the developments of the last 24 hours - seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago. If Mascherano can find a buyer he'll be gone - there hasn't been too much noise from Inter and I think Barca are in financial difficulties. The way he's acted I'm not too bothered but from a football point of view I'd love him to be hear next season. Under-rated IMO.

People forget that a few yrs ago when he was on the verge of leaving he stayed, becasue his family reminded hiom that '1 league medal' with Liverpool Football Club mean more than 10 with any other club.. this is the crux of it, the only medal at club level missing from his collection is the league - so I believed he would stay and that the appt of Hodgeosn and future plans were made clear to him.

Stevie is the heart of Liverpool and 3v3n at 50% he is worth mopre than any midfielder in this country.

I'm well happy - Gerrard, Johnson, Cole, Aqua, Masch? , Pepe, Torres, Agger, Skertl.. lookin good so-far , with mnore to come.

I will say that I am impressed by Roy.. I wasn't sure but I have belief in him.
THE BRENDAN REVOLUTION IS UPON US !

yep, the thing about Roy is he is a players manager, players get on with him very well....he dont always get on with the boards of the clubs but outside work even them seem to like him.

he is a firefighter manager and thats just what we eed right now.

Sorry was that too positive ? I supposed i could of said that Gerrard really didn't have anywhere to go cause people wouldn't pay 30 mil for a 30 year old - as Fairclough said on LFC - Gerrard is too good to go for less than 30 mil but is too old for clubs to pay 30 mil . Either way he is staying and it's good to see - let's see him have a better season than last year which was disrupted by injuries

I'm not sure. It'll be good if he scores 20 goals a season for the 3 years and we win the treble. It'll be bad if he gets injured and spends all the clubs money on horse placenta.

Joking! Sorry Benny.  :D  :D
