Having said that, I see absolutely no choice but to go for 1 striker yet again with the players we have at our disposal at present...

Personally i'd go for this

                                 Mascherano

                  Gerrard                      Aquilani

Kuyt                                                                 J.Cole

                                   Torres

I like that a lot.

So much creativity in there.

Another option might be to stick Cole on the right wing and have Jovanovic on the left for more width.

To be honest I think it's now quite likely Aquilani will be moved on if we can get a decent price for the lad.

Great news! One of my favourite players and was at a loss as to why he didn't start for England this summer when we offered so little going forward. After what has been a long period of bad news I am absolutely delighted and am off to celebrate in the sun with a nice cold one... here's to Joe Cole and may your time at LFC be a very successful one.

It all depends on Mascherano really.

If he leaves then we cant afford to lose another midfielder so Aquilani will stay.

I hope and think that at the moment, Riera is the next man to leave.

If we now get a decent LB which should be our priority, we will once again become contenders.
Great Signing of Joe Cole IMO.

Mick - a ball hasn't been kicked yet so excuse me while i don't shout from the roof with joy just yet . Chelsea refused his wages demands for a reason and both man utd and arsenal both stated they wouldn't be signing him - reasons unknown but I can guess at two - his wage demands and his injury record . If anyone watched Cole last season after coming back from his injury you would of seen someone who was a shadow of his former self hence why he was on he bench most of the time . If cole can recapture that form they that will be fantastic - if he can't then we would of been throwing more money away . I fear another Kewell situation with regards Cole .

Oh it seems that money got for yossi and insua will helpmpqy for cole

I think you are forgetting that Insua's + Benayoun's wages added together wouldnt have been too far off what we are giving to Joe Cole now.

You sound like a bitter, seriously!

Tell you what though, who isn't impressed by the way our new manager is going about things?

Sales are conducted with the minimum of fuss, with top dollar being recieved for any players going out of the door. Negotiations with existing players are not conducted in the media, Roy simply makes the right noises and plays it patient, even Masherano refusing to talk to him hasn't phased him it doesn't seem. Purchases are once again going ahead without the horses being disturbed. He straight bats press questions on how quickly deals are likely to happen with the old "I don't do the negotiating, Christian Purslow does" and simply gets on with things. The mediacal science team tell him he can't use World Cup players in the Europa Cup, so he says "OK then we'll use youngsters". "If we go out so be it, the league is our priority" he says. he doesn't bring coachloads of backroom staff with him, hangers on and yes men accrued over many years, coach drivers and kit men, nutritionists, scouts, acupuncturists and the rest of the nonsense some modern managers swear by. He comes in and says he wants all our backroom stalwarts to stay. He isn't threatened by Kenny still being around even though he knows Dalglish wanted his job, he isn't threatened by Sammy Lee staying, even though he was very close to the previous manager. Not only isn't he threatened, he WANTS them to stay.

How can anyone not be impressed by the way he's going about his business.

Can we ban Benny from this thread!?

I'm guessing your not a glass half full kinda guy but spare the rest of us for getting a little excited about the first decent bit of news to come out of Anfield in the last 6 months!!!!!!!!!

Foooooookin made up with this signing! ?not saying we're suddenly contenders or anything like that but at least it's something positive.

Surely, even you must be secretly chuffed? Or at least a little less miserable?

Exciting news to wake up to, I really hope he can stay fit though. :D Now all we need is a backup striker and a LB.
