Ill be honest Rafa's time was probably up but he should not have left before twit & tw@t, secondly how can two bankers experts in their field and not qualified on footballing matters hire our new manager and choosing him with a dreadfull record (apart from the Europa League final)?

What is worse them that hired him sat in the directors box at Anfield at that game against Fulham that Fulham team never crossed the half way line for the full 90 minutes it was one of the worst games Ive ever witnessed I hope we wont be seeing a repeat of it, it was fecking dreadfull  :no

I also dont think Hodgson is a big enough name to attract certain players if we do have some cash to spend.
I think they brought him in to sit there and say nothing when our world class players are sold under his feet, I dont think he has been brought in for footballing reasons, because the only thing this board is interested in is money the football doesnt matter.

If I had a choice to make a list who our new manager was going to be well Roy's name wouldnt even be on it.
he's a nice fella dont get me wrong, but IMO the wrong man for the job.
If he proves me wrong Ill be the first to hold my hands up and say so.

And as for the players we are linked to that is not Hodgson's fault - that blame sits firmly at the feet of the owners .

Hodgson could do with hitting the ground running and getting a tune out of these lads early doors as it appears his appointment is not a particularly popular. Maybe I have become completely disconnected from a new generation of Liverpool supporter as to me many just feel the need to poke fun at Hodgson, maybe its his age, perhaps lads here have grandfathers that age and think its bonkers to appoint a man on the verge of dementia, I just dont know. I get the impression had Hodgson been 20 years younger, played international football and managed on the continent he would have been seen in a very different light, even if he had won nothing. Its all about the packing, the label, and Hodgson is just not a brand name or a sexy football manager. He may not be that but he is a very good football man and I doubt you could speak to anyone in the game that would tell you otherwise. This fella is highly regarded and well thought of not just on these shores but in the football world as a whole.Hodgson has earned his chance and we have not appointed a second rate manager in any way shape or form. Ive no doubt the players will be looking forward to working for him and benefiting from his experience and I am sure they will.

Well funnily enough on the players we've been linked with, I'm a bit unimpressed :D I think Ashley Young would cost an arm and a leg and I don't think he's worth it to be honest. I touted him before Villa bought him off of Watford for 9 mill and he was a good buy at that, obviously still would be. My guess is though that you'd have to go to at least twice that to get him perhaps more and I don't think he's worth it.

I've never seen Brian Ruiz play, but strikers from the Dutch league, particularly ones which Steve McLaren bought make me nervous. Carlton Cole is the one, Roque Santa Cruz maybe, but some bloke who's never played over here would make me nervy.

Funnily enough, his free transfer picks I'm much happier about. Joe Cole is a fairly obvious good pick, I can definately see the sense in Gilberto Silva both from a football and dressing room presence point of view, and Paul Sharna has been a good player for years.

It's all specualtion though, the main thing is for me that I like the man and trust him to doa  good job.

Who is poking fun at him ?

If Hodgson had won more than just a LMA and actually won a trophy of note and not just steadyed smaller clubs then people might rate him a bit more highly- he is a nice guy but in football ncie guys arent successful these days .

12 Months ago how many here would of wanted Hodgson as manager ? How many even 6 months ago - if someone had said to you a year or 2 years ago that we would of had Hodgson as manager im pretty sure many more would of thought it was a joke .

Hodgson is flavour of the month becuase he took a small club to the Europa cup final and lost .

Ask yourself this and give me an honest answer would he get a job at Man United, chelsea, Arsenal, City, or Spurs. My answer is No whats yours?

Well it seems Joe Cole is going to go to Arsenal for 115 grand a week and he is the only player out of the bunch that would improve us ! Scharner at Liverpool ! Silva how old now ! Im sorry  Mick but are they really signings that make you think we can move forward ?

The only people to blame for us being linked at players of that standard are the owners

Sharner & Silva *not David*  :glare: that will convince Torres & Gerrard we are going places, jesus christ lets hope them rumours are BS.

I was Joe King

By the way what was Paisleys record like when he took over? or Fagans, Evans or Dalglish's?
I know they came through the club but none of them had previous managerial experience yet were all successful...

Well as I keep saying, we'll see very soon whether or not we can move forward. My feeling is that under Roy we will improve from the point at which he takes over, big money signings or not. Incidently on "Scharner at Liverpool!!!", or "Gilberto Silva at Liverpool!!!", I resolved never to make statements such as that once I had seen Andrea Dossena pull on a red shirt. Either of the aforementioned players are in a  different stratosphere to him, and would be 7 million quid cheaper.

No one is going to disagree about dossena - an international left back who didnt work out - still doesnt change the fact that players like scharner arent the sort of players both gerrard and torres were talking about when they both stated the club needed better players to be able to compete
