Well must of been a totally different team I saw on channel 5 and itv 4 throughout the Europa cup run when there was a lot and i mean a lot of long ball football played .

Fulham are cackoffski every season mate. THey are a tiny club with tinier aspirations, dwarfed by their close neighbours Chelsea. his is why when Hodgson got them to 7th in his first full season then to a Europena final in his second full season, without spending any money it was/is an astounding achievement.

They don't play route one football though, they haven't got the players for it. Now back to topic.

Also, did Duff and Davis play, and if they did, what part did they play in this debacle of association football?

I have seen seasons when we couldnt buy a goal away from home
I have also seen seasons when we couldnt buy one at home

Surely it's more likely that the a team who stick everyone behind the ball, play on the counter  and hoof it into space are perhaps more likely to be set-up to win games away from home, Houllier managed it many a time with LFC. It's not uncommon for teams in this league to play decent attacking football at home only for them to look a completely different team away from home.

Mate, just about every team outside of the top 4 sit 11 behind the ball against us. Have done for years and will continue to do so. I don't think Hodgson is all that used to coming up against sides who do that so we'll see if he has the answers Rafa couldn't find on a consistent basis won't we.

Well it's all opinions Benny, and I'm certainly not going to berate you having one. I had that too many times myself to go down that route, but the good thing is we'll soon find out one way or the other.

You can get the good ship "Wearefecked" up and sailing, and if we can't manage to improve on where we currently are (which is surely the ambition for everyone), then by all means I'll row accross in a couple of seasons from the good ship "surelyitcantbeanyworse" and we can swap stories.

I'm pleased to read you think Roy should find it quite easy to improve us if he has the same squad as was available to previous management, we can at least agree on that piece of positivity.

I think we can get higher than 7th but it won't be because of new manager it will because Torres and Gerrard might well spend a season fit and not injured but even then I don't expect to be in the CL spot .

Benny, that is an unbelievable quote to make. Not the managers success. How can roy succeed if people like you throw that at him?

Did we win the CL league cos of Gerrards exploits or rafas genius? You cant have it both ways. Was it rafa's genius that got us second or cos we were lucky with last minute winners?

For me, Rafa was a disaster in his last couple of seasons, but hid behind our problems at boaardroom level. Now, roy is here, he knows the conditions and his willing to try his very best to get us back into cl contention. Im backing him 110%.

Right, you obviously cant understand what is written. My post was to Benny in regards to his comments on Gerrard and Torres playing injury free, and Hodgson not taking credit for it.

I mentioned Rafa's last 2 years at the helm, not the previous 3, as being a disaster. Tell me, did you watch liverpool for the past 2 years? Telling me it was fantastic stuff? Rafa lost his focus and made terrible transfer decisions and the team style stagnated.

Rafa has gone, the fairytale is over for you pal, buckle your seatbelt for the Roy Nightmare adventure!

I'm lookin forward to the season big time, I dont care what ciggy, zarababe goggles etc keep pappin on about, I'm delighted that I will not be watchin turgid embarrassing football for all the world to  laugh at.

I take it you will be watching someone else ....maybe its a team with a world renowned and  celebrated manager with the knack for success
