You can get the good ship "Wearefecked" up and sailing, and if we can't manage to improve on where we currently are (which is surely the ambition for everyone), then by all means I'll row accross in a couple of seasons from the good ship "surelyitcantbeanyworse" and we can swap stories.

I'm pleased to read you think Roy should find it quite easy to improve us if he has the same squad as was available to previous management, we can at least agree on that piece of positivity.

I think we can get higher than 7th but it won't be because of new manager it will because Torres and Gerrard might well spend a season fit and not injured but even then I don't expect to be in the CL spot .

And if we do worse than 7th then that means we are out of Europe totally and we arrive in mid table safety for a number of years and I'm sorry but the minimum is to improve on 7th - if that doesn't happen then I can't see how the manager can improve it . The story could be totally different with new owners - that's the key that could turn things around .

Benny, that is an unbelievable quote to make. Not the managers success. How can roy succeed if people like you throw that at him?

Did we win the CL league cos of Gerrards exploits or rafas genius? You cant have it both ways. Was it rafa's genius that got us second or cos we were lucky with last minute winners?

For me, Rafa was a disaster in his last couple of seasons, but hid behind our problems at boaardroom level. Now, roy is here, he knows the conditions and his willing to try his very best to get us back into cl contention. Im backing him 110%.

Disaster last couple of seasons ? Surely you just mean last season !

Yes I do believe if we get above 7th to the dizzy heights of 6th or a remarkable 5th with a fully fit Torres all season that is the reason for me why we would of done better but I don't see Torres staying anyway and can see us fighting to stay 7th

So now even if we do well and improve on last season it's not because of Roy  Deary me.

We will have to wait and see and then revisit the debate - we can go round and round in circles but we will soon see if can improve us or if we go backwards further - then we will have a definate answer on if people were right to be excited and delighted with the appointment or if they were right to disappointed and worried .

I wonder thou if Fulham hadn't got to the Europa final only to lose would Hodgson be in the picture anyway ? Even though he did well with Fulham the season before he certainly wasn't the latest flavour of the month - that seemed to all change when he took them to the final .

Roy has a brain - one that works properly. he will play the players in their proper positions and if we need that goal with 20mins left he wont take off a striker and put a midfielder on. brains - lets say we need a new player for the right wing, Roy wont stick a striker out there and make him play right wing.

I am genuinely pleased that there exists an island, a little secluded spot the more naive like to call "Cloudcuckoo Land "somewhere you can truly believe in Rainbows and lollipops and not have the inconvenience of those nasty fans with their tales of reality that can so hinder your dream like state .... It must be a truly wonderful  place to dwell .... I think I have holidays coming up soon .... maybe we could jump in our ships of choice and  all start rowing and possibly meet halfway ... "Now there's a thought " ???

Well isn't it better than just bleating on about Saint Rafa and how none of it was his fault?

I think this club needs a little optimism now

As far as I 'm concerned with a bit of luck regarding injuries and transfers Roy can "steady the ship" on-field. I guess whether it's a new era or false dawn boils down to expectations really. Last season was a collective farce. Whilst the manager had the proverbial mare a lot of the players, and senior ones at that were a disgrace for large parts of the season.

The main thing that made the ship unstable was the off-field politics and the fact that Benitez was all too willing to fight the board and get involved in matters other than football.

It's a shame that you think us improving from where currently are is cloudcuckoo land Red, or that you think anyone who believes it also believes in rainbows and lollipops (I do actually so perhaps that's the nub).

You're right though about it being a wonderful place to dwell, to be able to walk forward with a little bit of hope. I've got plenty of hope. I don't think we'll win the league I'm not silly, but I do think we've got a real chance that our new manager will better the position the previous management left us in. If he does, then we've improved and we going in the right direction.

Some prefer to wollow in woeisme land, the backs of their hands clasped tot heir forheads, stooping, groaning and hiding from bright lights, waiting for armegeddon.

Time will tell mate. You think seventh is the pinnacle of our ambitions, whereas I think we  can do better. Hopefully I'm right and you can rejoin us in the land of positivity again.

What, a CL final and a couple of semi finals and a decent run in the league count as a disaster to you? Buckle your seatbelt, fella.

The whole irony of this is that those who are giving their "honest opinion" about what will befall us with Red Roy are missing the real point of what it is to be a true supporter of LFC.
Through my life LFC has always been there no matter what happens or where I am. Tragedies, celebrations, births, deaths and marriages, woven into the tapestry of who I am. Theres a cheesy showsong which, from the first time I heard it, and till this very day, somehow encapsulates what I feel about Our club. Its what gives me the edge over any other clubs supporters. It makes me special. Unique
Heres the lyrics:

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

I have literally got tears in my eyes just reading that and imagining that Im next to my Red brothers and sisters singing till my lungs burst. This is why I am a middle aged tit who fervently, ridiculously, pathetically follows a bunch of young millionaires and stays loyal even though various pr'icks of custodians have done us wrong.
Because we will still be there when all the phoney tw@ts have long gone. And when I go to meet Shanks and Bob and Joe and every other hero of my life for a game of footy in the sky, my kids and their kids will be singing that song and loving OUR club as long as it exists.

Yes very commendable - shame it wasn't evident with some people with the previous manager
