PSG vs Liverpool - Wed 28th 20:00

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Pig Catcher » Mon Nov 26, 2018 4:43 pm

Table:
Napoli                    -   6 Points
Liverpool                -   6 points
PSG                        -   5 points
Red Star Belgrade   -   4 points

The maths
It’s still in our hands to not only qualify but also win the group.
- A win would mean we’re through if Napoli beat Red Star Belgrade in Italy.
- A draw means we’d have to beat Napoli at Anfield on the final match day to guarantee going through.
- A loss means we’d have to beat Napoli and better the 1-0 they beat us by in Italy.

There is also a possibility all three teams could end up on the same number of points in which case, it’ll go down to a mini league between three teams but that’s unlikely to happen.

Team news
Mbappe and Neymar should be fit to start after picking up knocks during internaional duty. Verratti missed the first leg through suspension so he will majorly strengthen them from the first tie.

Didn't seem as though we picked up any knocks against Watford so it should be the same squad with Gomez and Lallana possibly returning. But we'll have to wait until Klopp's press conference on Tuesday. I'd expect us to revert back to the 4-3-3 with Shaq making way for Keita or Milner.

A win and we qualify.

A draw or loss is quite bad.

As PSG will beat Red star in their final game, meaning we will have to beat Napoli.

But will they? Red Star held Napoli 0-0 at home before beating us. May not be a foregone conclusion.

And I'd be feeling pretty good about beating Napoli at home to go through so a draw tomorrow would be a good result.

All "IF's and BUT's" . We may as well just go for it on Wednesday as if It's the final and go for the win.

I'd Play:
                      Alisson
TAA    Gomez       VVD       ROBBO

             Milner     Wjnaldum
                Shaq/Keita

  Salah        Firmino      Mane

Might be worth playing Fabinho, he must have played at this stadium in big games for Monaco against PSG. He'll be used to playing against this mob.

I'd take a draw to be honest.

So would I, that would mean we would have taken 4 points out of a possible 6 against them. That Veratti is back for them and they are at home so a draw would be a good result. A win would be terrific.

Midfield will be interesting here not really sure who Klopp will field however i think it will be

Hendo/Milner/Wijnaldum.

I don't think Klopp will play Shaq/Fab or Keita.

What a massive game, win it and we are virtually through! These are the type of games stars are made! Who will step up to save the day??? Who will repeat the kind of performance like Gerrard's  against Olympiacos??

Lose this game and we will need an olympiacos type performance in the last game. If Napoli win also it would be :
Napoli    9 points
PSG.      8
LFC.      6

We would have to beat Napoli and by a considerable score. Does goal difference come into it, or head to heads etc?
