the guy comes on here and makes a friendly and informative post and look what kind of a response he gets.

Are you surprised Andy - some can't even speak in any sort of respectful tone towards their own fans so it's no surprise a rival fan gets derided .

First of all, i should let you know that i have great sympathy and respect to LFC side and espicially to glorious fans of the club. I feel that there will be a very friendly challenge between these two teams.

I'm a Tranbonspor (TS) fan, and i've been just registered to inform you who you are playing against.

TS have been champions for 6 times in Turkey and first team to win it after the big-three (Galatasaray-Fenerbahce-Besiktas) Istanbul clubs.

The most interesting side of this tie is that TS and LFC was tied in 76-77 season and TS won the first leg 1-0 at home, but lost 3-0 away. In that year LFC had been the champions of all competitions and the team that only beaten was TS the whole year. The GK of TS was Senol Gunes who is now the manager at Trabzonspor (He was also the manager to national team et 2002 world cup, where we grabbed the 3rd place at the tournament). He joined us for the 4th time as manager in January 10' and TS side have not been conceding more than 1 goal in a game since he joined us. After having joined us, TS achieved to win Turkish cup, beating Fenerbahce in final 3-1 and just 10 days ago the super cup beating the defending champion Bursaspor 3-0 thanks to hatrick performance by Teofilo.

Trabzonspor likes to play pass to feet and slow tempo football. Defence line is generally high and the team narrows area to the opponent in the middle. TS have the most creative mid players among the Turkish soccer teams, espicially Colman, Alanzinho and Yattara. We have also newly grabbed Jaja from Methalist who's an explosive striker but not performed for TS yet. Additionally, LFC should be careful on Umut's heading performance from aerial freekicks and corners.

LFC should improve the tempo and be careful on locking TS's key players in the middle. I wish a friendly challenging serie and hope that the best team wins it.

If you have question about TS, please ask it.

Welcome to the forum Petsi.  :)

I have no doubt you guys will be very competitive. We on the other hand are fresh from a moral boosting performance in the season opener against the best passing team in the league and will be high on confidence. Let's hope it will be an entertaining encounter and may the best team win.  :)

Agreed.

And to Owzat and Lee J. The Trabzonspor fan comes on with a decent attitude and an informative post.

You may not give a flying fk and it may well turn bitter, but until it does give the lad a break.

As someone who listened to "you'll never walk alone" live by all fans together, i would ignore who replies undecent way, cause i know liverpool fans are almost the best in the world. I just wanted to clarify the team you will play against, as some of the forum members didn't have any idea about TS. it's always better to watch a match if you know your opponent. I told about the key players in TS, it doesn't mean we are better to eliminate LFC side.

Yattara (right winger) will not start at first team, but sure he will be a sub to Burak and i would espicially advise you watch Colman (Midfielder) carefully. Newly promoted to the first team, Onur will be our favourite to stop LFC threats. Onur is a very very skillful GK that will be placed on Turkish National Team for years and years and I bet he will be transferred to more popular leagues a few years later.

Just a little concern over the following statement
Please note following an extensive enquiry into the best possible price for our customers, Thomas Cook are unable to offer a package for this fixture........ so supporters will be travelling independently and having to find their own accommodation  ??? One question why ?

Especially given this statement By Ian Ayres when asked by a fan the following :
There are rumours circulating that Liverpool FC will be giving up to 50% of tickets for European away games to Thomas Cook to sell as part of packages, thereby penalising fans who prefer to travel independently. Is there any truth in this?

"All of the European tickets for next season will be sold on the basis of loyalty just as they have been.

"What Thomas Cook will offer for people who want it is a package but we’re not giving them the tickets and telling them they can sell them to anyone who wants to buy them.

"It will all be done on our normal qualifying system, so you have to qualify just as you did before and then you have the option of taking the Thomas Cook package.

"With Thomas Cook we’ve told them they can be our official partner and we are getting a big sponsorship fee so we are trying to encourage people to use Thomas Cook because more of that revenue will come back to the club.

"Clearly, if Thomas Cook price themselves out of the market no-one is going to use it but we believe we have identified a partner who can offer a service at a competitive price so that the club and our fans benefit."

My question is no less pertinent especially for the fans who are reliant on these packages .....why can Thomas Cook provide a package for a Champions League Final in the Luzhniki Stadium Moscow (on the small miracle Liverpool would make it ) and fail to secure a package for the game in Turkey  ???
Why is it not possible for Thomas Cook to provide a package ,because after all this is their responsibility now ...surely they could have procured a competitive price for supporters and secured accommodation
If anyone has answers please let me fucking  know   ???

Interesting word association, Scott.  :D

Aye, flying out at 7am tomorrow morning so i'll be a little less demonstrative than usual come kick-Off time! Be my 6th time in Amsterdam but hoping to bury the memories of my last trip when I managed to pass out in a bar and smash my head on a table on the way down, VERY embarrassing particularly in front of my old man and sister!

Ideal opportunity to give the likes of Babel, Torres, Aurelio and Kuyt some much needed minutes. Obviously Joey Cole will play 90 minutes and I imagine we'll see a debut for Poulsen. Hoping to see a couple of the kids make the squad, I'd like to see Kelly get a start at RB and maybe the likes of Pachecho and Shelvey on the bench.

Agree very much with your sentiments about the game mate. Oh, and have a nice one in Amsterdam - I was there about a month ago and it's a great little city :)

Thanks mate, it's a wicked place. Looking forward to perusing the art galleries once again   :eyebrow

Be very interesting to see Babel get a full run out upfront if that line-up is on the money. Would love to see Torres play a full 45 mins in this one.

i'd have torres on the bench and bring him on with 10-15 mins to go. He needs match fitness and this would be a handy game to bring him out in.
