LIVERPOOL VS LYON - 19:45 tue 20th october cl group phase

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Since we have only about 24 hours for our next CL match, and nobody feels like opening a thread (quite understandable), I will do it.
Tough game ahead, apperantly Torres is out, SG is back though. Put the strongest side out and win the game. Simple as that. 2-1 for the Redmen.

Lyon have been good this season, but we can defo beat them.

Since Torres is out I would go with.

                Reina

Johnson   Carragher   Agger   Aurelio

Babel      Mascherano   Gerrard    Riera

              Benayoun

                Kuyt

Have Babel and Kuyt switch positions if we are getting murdered on the right side

We can’t play one up top unless it is Torres, and even then the players behind him need to be functioning well or he becomes isolated and ineffective. Not sure if Gerrard will be able to start as he only rejoined training today? Benayoun makes things happen for us when he is given freedom so he needs to play behind the strikers.

                   Reina

         Carragher   Agger

Johnson   Mascherano   Aurelio

          Spearing   Lucas

                Benayoun

              Ngog   Babel

Subs: Voronin, Kuyt, Riera, Gerrard, Insua, Skrtel, Cavalieri

I think that Ngog deserves a chance to play up front in this game.  He's always looked good when he played a full game.

That is one bizzare lineup.

I agree. Personally I don't think he is ready but what else have we got. Both Veronin and Babel are absolutely useless.

Definitely wouldn't play Aurelio after his pathetic performance on Saturday providing Insua, who I rate, is fit to play. Aurelio is frightened to put in a hard tackle because he is so injury prone.

Lyon lost on Saturday to a one of the mid table lesser lights. Let's hope it's knocked their confidence!

Lovely gesture

Monday, October 19, 2009: Olympique Lyonnais's head coach Claude Puel ® and Bernard Lacombe (special adviser to the team President) lay a wreath in memory of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster in 1989, before their side's training at Anfield ahead of the UEFA Champions League Group E match against Liverpool

With that line up we would probably hold them defensively but only attackers are ngog, babel and benny loool would see a 0-0 draw..

Tough game ahead, apperantly Torres is out, SG is back though. Put the strongest side out and win the game. Simple as that. 2-1 for the Redmen.

What's their record coming into this game?

Who did they play at the weekend? What was the score?

I guess you already know the answers? Or you wanted to open the thread.
