Liverpool Vs Arsenal - League cup  01/10 19:45 ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby redshade » Wed Sep 30, 2020 2:05 pm

I know a lot ain't really bothered about this cup but for me I want us to progress. Solely for the squad to get game time. We look more stronger now and tbf our league cup team could potentially match anyone.

Makes you think how in Klopp early days we were struggling to get a team for these games and now we've got a side that can go and win it.

Matip, Phillips, Tsimikas, Henderson, Ox and Thiago are out. Maybe something like the below. Although Shaq might play in midfield again with Milner at LB instead of Larouci. Also probably won't see both Gomez and van Djik start.

                                 Adrian

Williams          Gomez          van Dijk          Larouci

                                 Grujic
                    Milner                 Jones

     Minamino                                       Jota
                                   Origi

Like redshade said, this competition is good for the squad players and youngsters to get more game-time, so I hope we stay in it as long as possible. Actually, we haven't won a domestic cup in a while, so I want us to go all the way in at least one of the cups.

Good chance for the reserves and fringe players to get another run out.

Yep, I agree with you both, I’d love us to win one of the domestic cups, we haven’t won the League Cup since 2011/12 which is nearly a decade ago now, the FA Cup we haven’t won since 2005/06! Both competitions are regarded as major honours and count towards our trophy haul and which Liverpool fan isn’t proud of our moniker England’s most successful club?
To be fair we were a bit unlucky last year in the sense that we got through to the QF’s and actually had a decent draw for once but the Villa game clashed with our participation in the World Club Championship.
Hopefully the day Jurgen decides to call it a day is a long, long way off but looking at things from a legacy point of view it would look nice in the history books if Jurgen was to win every trophy that he could have possibly won during his time in England.

Absolutely agree. Domestic cups should not be ignored. I was miffed that we didn't win the Community Shield !! This lot look capable of winning everything. Given the age of several players we need to maximise our achievements over the next 3 to 4 years.

Personally...  I'd give this cup slight attention, play the youngsters but out of the domestic cups The FA Cup is the one I'd go for! League & Cup double? Yes please.

Origi is so done at this club. If he is on the bench in this fixture when will he get playing time?
Jota goes in straight ahead of him with Salah and Minamino.

Couple of really shyte penos there from Origi and Wilson. I think their time is up, not just because of the penos, but Wilson didn't do anything all game. Grujic looks like he could have a future but needs to play a bit quicker for me

Ah man gutted here, had a feeling when Wilson was going to take the peno it's over.
Should have finished the game off prior to pens.

Shame, really wanted squad players to get more game time.
Arsenal celebrated like they won a trophy, well is expected from a small club.

Ah damn, now we have to sell them all :D . Jokes aside, it would have been nice to go through, mostly for the likes of Jota, Minamino, Adrian, Jones etc to get more game-time. Some of those players should definitely be sold though, like Wilson and sadly even Origi. Grujic is a decent player but unfortunately he needs to be sold too because we just have too many midfielders. We should try to get as much money as possible from him though, because he's definitely a good player. Rhys Williams did well for a CB his age IMO, but I'm not happy with Nico Williams' recent performances, this one included.

Well, it's going to hurt the game time of a lot of these players sadly....

On the back of some of those performances, if that was the shop window, I don't think anybody is buying!
