Given our injuries - I cannot see the benefit in playing half fit tired players for the sake of putting out your strongest team.

Time to start the likes of Aspas, Alberto, Moses, Kelly - and mix in some experience like Skrtel, Mignolet, Lucas, Suarez, etc

Maybe something like -

                  Mignolet

Kelly     Skrtel     Agger     Cissohko

                    Lucas

Moses          Alberto           Sterling

            Aspas
                        Suarez

its a difficult one to know what side to play. the head says field a weakened one and focus on the league but that wont keep everyone happy.
its still our best bet of silverware and hopefully the players that are selected give enough to scrape us through the early rounds at least.

This is the problem when you have a thin squad. Chelsea, City, Arsenal especially won't have this problem. The transfer policy of BR has been unsatisfactory, why is he only now talking about bringing in players who can go straight to the first team? Why didn't he do that in the summer?

I would play:
                     Mignolet
Kelly     Toure       Agger    Cissokho
             Illori        Gerrard
Ibe                Alberto         Moses
                     Yesil

Surely that's good enough at home against a team that's in the lower league.
I would rather finish in the top 4 than win this cup. We aren't gonna be able to attract top players by winning this cup, unlike the effect that qualifying for the ECL would have.

ibe`s injured, my XI for sunday would be

                                                                  mingolet

                               kelly               toure                    illori              cissokho

                                                    gerrard                 lucas

                                                                 alberto

                                      moses                   aspas              sterling

the likes of gerrard and toure havent played much recently so they can do with the run out. sterling has played a lot recently but he`s not one of those that has featured week in week out since the start of the season (like hendo, skrtel etc) so he should be okay.

With Gerrard's appearance yesterday, I expect him to get a run out against Oldham. If only to improve match fitness prior to the away game to Stoke next week.

I also now think that Aspas will play. I have a feeling that Rodgers is putting him in the shop window to prospective buyers.

Not sure Id be resting too many players to be honest, this is our best if not only chance of winning a trophy and we have a week off after the game.

Field a strong team and win it comfortably.  Take off Suarez, Gerrard and Coutinho when its in the bag.

What's the latest with Sturridge ? If he is available i'd get him in and give Suarez the rest he needs and deserves.
The other players that have played right through the Christmas period could do with a rest as well.
My team would be

Mignolet
Kelly
Toure
Agger - he hasnt played that much football apart from in December
Cissokho
Lucas - although he has played right through we dont really have any options
Alberto
Gerrard
Moses
Sturridge - If available
Aspas
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

I would like to see Alberto, Illori, Aspas, Toure, Agger, Gerrard, Kelly, Smith, Yesil and Jones feature.
Name a strong bench, but start with players who haven't been playing much this season.
Our squad is frighteningly small and with some important winnable on paper league games coming up, we shouldn't risk further injuries.

I know that this will be more or less a strong line-up, but there are some players that we just can't rest since this is probably our only chance to win some silverware this season. Henderson should play because there is no one else (Lucas needs the rest more than him IMO) and Suarez has to play, especially considering how unreliable the trio behind him is. Sterling shouldn't play because we don't want the kid to burn out again.

This would me my starting line-up:

                           Mignolet

           Kelly      Toure    Agger     Cissokho

                      Gerrard   Henderson

            Aspas          Alberto          Moses

                               Suarez

Subs:

Jones
Illori
Smith
Lucas
Rossiter
Coutinho
Yesil

Wouldn't mind to see the likes of Yesil and Illori at some point.
