More of the same please from the team, might need to freshen things a bit though with tuesday's second leg with Chelsea

I would give Gerrard a rest and try Rossiter in the middle

I wonder how far away Danny Sturridge is from a return? If he is fit I'd play him. In fact given that we have a tough run of fixtures coming up (Chelsea, West Ham, Everton, Besiktas, Spurs, Southampton, City) I'd make a few changes.

Is Ibe cup tied? Are Johnson and Allen fit? If so they all need to play. Not sure what I'd personally play but I know that we need to rest as much players as possible. If Sturridge is fit I'd sit him on the bench, I wouldn't start with him.

Yes i believe Ibe is cup tied in both cups, i know i am repeating my earlier comment but i would really love to see Jordan Rossiter get a full 90 minutes in the centre of our mifdield, this lad is a real dynamo, he needs to be given more time and this is perfect

BR's selection against Bolton will tell us a lot about him as a manager, lets see if he really does give youth a chance

Some injury updates...

Rodgers: "Allen back training, Johnson and Lovren as well, both will be available and Mario has trained. Brad Jones still missing."

Injured: Jones, Flanagan, Sturridge
Cup tied: Ibe
African nations: Toure

We have to keep some players fresh for Tuesday. Chelsea are bound to make wholesale changes as they play Bradford at home. Centre backs tend not suffer as much from fatigue as I’d keep the backline the same as they are growing in confidence.

                      Mignolet

             Can     Skrtel     Sakho

Manquillo     Allen     Rossiter     Enrique

          Lallana               Borini
                      Balotelli

Subs: Lambert, Sterling, Coutinho, Henderson, Lovren, Johnson, Ward

Tough is right, that's our season right there.

Considering the above, I'd go with something like this. A bit silly I guess but here's my line-up:

                                   Mignolet

                     Johnson   Skrtel    Lovren

             Manquillo      Can  Allen       Enrique

                       Lallana             Balotelli

                                  Borini

A bit stupid yes and it might cost us but we must rest as much players as possible. A shame Ibe is cup tied, would have been perfect for this one. I was really looking forward to seeing him actually.

Why is there a notion we should rest so many players? I thought the FA cup is a bit more prestigious then the mickymouse cup....Anyway if we do rest some I don't want to see players which are on their way out playing ,so no Glenda no Enrique and no Mario please, makes no sense at all, play Academy for all I care .

I'd like to see Lovren, Rossiter and Mario start this one. Perhaps even give Sturridge a 15 min part at the end?

Have you seen our upcoming fixtures?

Sat 24th Jan  - BOLTON (h)                F.A cup
Tue 27th Jan - CHELSEA (a)               League cup
Sat 31st  Jan - WEST HAM (h)            Premier League
Sat 7th Feb - EVERTON (a)                Premier League
Tue 10th Feb - TOTTENHAM (h)         Premier League
Thu 19th Feb - BESIKTAS (h)             Europa League
Sun 22nd Feb - SOUTHAMPTON (a)    Premier League
Thu 26th Feb - BESIKTAS (a)             Europa League
Sun 1st Mar - MAN CITY (h)              Premier League

After Bolton the players will have to play 8 high profile matches on the bounce, they are basically going to be playing 2 huge games a week for the next 6-7 weeks so I'd give as many as possible a rest while we can. Bolton are no mugs but I'm sure our squad players like Ibe, Balotelli, Lovren, Enrique, Allen, Johnson etc will have enough to beat them, especially at home.
We need to rotate our squad, we saw how we hit the wall at the end of last season. It's no use making up all this ground on the teams above us only to run out of steam at the end again.

Understand Ibe is unable to play

Whilst we do have a great deal of tough games coming up I wouldn't like to see too many drastic changes - keep the form rolling and just tinker a little
