Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Yup can't get carried away but this time around things are different. We have built a very strong winning mentality. The lads have won a few trophies and also last year's run in has given them good experience. We hold all the cards currently so we just have to keep working hard.

I just hope VVD stays fit and healthy. He is vital to us snapping the title.

The tough phase for us will be in the latter stages of UCL and FA cup, coinciding with title race.

I am sh'it at maths.
How many games do we need to win to become PL champions? If we win our game in hand we will be 16 points ahead of leicester.
I work that out as them needing 5 wins and one draw, to catch us (if we lose all 6 games). That means that we only have to win 12 games out of the 18 left to become champions?
Is this correct?
???

As things stand right now (midday Jan 1st 2020) Thommo. Leicester have 42 points with 18 games to play. It's unlikely but If they won all those games they have 96 points.
We have 55 points with 19 games to play. To reach an unbeatable 97 points we'd need 42 more points, in other words we'd need to win 14 of our remaining 19 games.

Wouldn’t waste too much time on this one. Some sadoes are actually trying to work out what needs to happen for us to win the title at Goodison

LFC £255m (£467m)
Everton £38m (£287m)
Arsenal £645m6 (£925m)
Spurs £510m (£541m)
Chelsea £788m (£1007m)
Man City £307m (£1012m)
Man United £702m (£1249m)

If we keep this up, we could win the title on 4 April...against Man City

Icing on the cake would be if we stay invincible.

Tbh I feel if we wrap it up early and are still in UCL then potentially we may lose a game or so as focus will be altered.

Not that we should be getting carried away or anything, just winning the damn thing after 30 year would be a tremendous achievement, but a question just for fun: What would you guys rather have, an invincible season in the league or more titles (CL and Cup)? I know we all want both, but if we had to choose?

I'd rather we won the league by a single point on the last day than the current runaway season. I hope we don't remain unbeaten so the lads have something to aim for next season. I hope we win the CL as thats what differentiates us from City, United, Chelsea and the other pretenders, the European Cup is in our DNA and what makes European teams fear us. I'd also like to win the lottery and sh@g Princess Kate wearing a rubber suit.

If its a question of chosing between just the league title with an invincible record vs winning the the league by a single point and also winning the treble then i'd deginitely choose the latter mate...

100+ points with a cup to go with the league. Ideally, number 7...

Take a double or treble anytime over breaking records....a team can have a great unbeaten record of 38 draws and get relegated as the invincibles

I was thinking if we get things done and dusted early with the league we can give a few of the youth a decent run out to see the season through. That's unless we're determined to break records and go unbeaten. Might be a good idea with a few of our regulars having played non stop for several years now.

I know where your coming from but keeping the momentum going would be far more important. Klopp isn't going to want a few defeats chalking up if they can avoided by playing the first XI
