Mate , put the couple of million difference in price aside and who would you rather have for the next two seasons , Ricky Lambert at 32 or Carlos Tevez at 30 ?

Don't bother to answer mate. We all know who the better proposition would be.

Aren't we? ???

From what I saw last season we were. A lot of game Suarez simply won on his own or our forwards pulled us out of the Sh*t by us outscoring the opposition.

We certainly didn't dominate most games and our defending was shoddy at best for most of the season.

You keep living in your dream world. Suarez was the reason we finished 2nd instead of 6th. Of that I'm 100% sure.

Think you misunderstood.  Wasn't referring to 'we aren't that bad' in reference to signing Tevez.  I'm saying 'we aren't that bad' in reference to Stu's assessment of our current squad.

Some very sensitive souls on here today.

With the 30 million for the season transfers, another 30 million for reaching the CL, 75 million for the sale of Suarez and twenty to thirty million for the sale of Lucas, Asaidi,Borini and others means we should have at least 150 million to spend this summer. We spent about sixty million which means we still have a lot to spend. It has gone quite but it feels like something big is cooking. If we can free up Johnson and Pepe along with the Suarez salary we can free up at least 400k per week in wages. I can't see that there is anyone we cannot afford.

I bet you Brendon more than anyone would love to do better next year to show the world it was not Suarez, it was him or at least the team. It is in his hands and it is a massive transfer window and he has a great opportunity to make a real impact. Too many factors go on behind the scenes that we do not know about but if it is as it appears, we do not seem to be linked with anyone substantial since Markovic. I hope we go all out for Reus and a LB and RB and goalie, if we do we will be better next year.

We need a monster signing as Woof says.

I hate to say this but I don't think we can manage signing a world class marquee replacement for Suarez for a number of reasons.

One Rodgers, as good as he was last season doesn't appear to have the international clout to pull any superstars from across the water.

Two Ian Ayre as we all know has got to be one of the most incompentent suits we have ever had at the club. He has continually fked up at what he paid 'a lot' of money to do.

Three our owners are obsessed in not paying over the odds for players as we have seen time and time again, the latest this whole Moreno saga which has dragged on.

Four when was the last time we purchased a superstar in their prime? It's just not the Liverpool way. Sorry to disappoint you all but it's highly unlikely we will get anyone the calibre we are expecting over the short term. If anything we will develop them into a better player just like we did with Suarez.

That is fine if that is our formula and I would put both Can and Markovic as one of those type players, Davis  and Bony are probably not.

Seriously lads, calm down. Was Suarez a 'monster signing' when we brought him in?  No, everyone was more interested in the purchase of Carroll...

To be honest, I can't understand the doom and gloom, and even our new signings being slated by a few on here. I recall a number of people saying similar things about Coutinho and Sturridge when they arrived. But look how they turned out!

Personally, I'm not sure we need to spend 20 million on a left back. Enrique is back and he was (before his injury) one of the best full backs in the league. With his return, and Flanno available for the left or right back position, I think we'll be fine on the flanks. However, we do need a central defender and a striker, but I'm sure we'll sign the right guys before the summer is out.

Things are also looking promising on the dead wood front, with Assaidi going for 7 million (  ) and Borini on the verge of going back to Sunderland for 10 million.

You missed the scenario whereby no matter how well we do there is always room to moan. There are some specialists at that on this forum.

I am not expecting monster signings, but I watched video of Davis against Napoli

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yatlbf4_obU

and then Moreno against Barcelona

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=De3RmpfQf84

and I can tell you who had more quality. These are not highlight reels just every touch in that game. The extra 10 million gets you alot more player.

Ok lads what do you think about a 45-50 mil pound move for Marco Reus?

Although I think we need a player more like Vidal I'd still be happy knowing we have at least one world class player in the squad.
