Torres injury - Looks doubtful for everton game

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Graeme Noble » Fri Oct 12, 2007 11:31 pm

From BBC Sport:

Fernando Torres could be a doubt for Liverpool's upcoming derby match against Everton after tearing a muscle while on international duty with Spain.
The 23-year-old pulled up in training ahead of the Euro 2008 qualifier versus Denmark and was immediately ruled out of action for eight to 10 days.

Spain team doctor Genaro Borras confirmed the problem was a small muscle tear in the striker's right leg.

The Reds travel to Goodison Park to face rivals Everton on 20 October.

And the loss of Torres would be a big blow, with the Spaniard having already netted seven times in all competitions so far this season for the Reds.

Spain, who also face Finland in a friendly next Wednesday, are likely to draft in Raul Tamudo of Espanyol as Torres's replacement on Saturday.

Luis Aragones's side are second in Group F, level on 19 points with leaders Sweden having played a game more and five points ahead of Denmark.

10 days? The Everton game is when? 8 days from this news? I think he'll be OK for it.

Might not be a bad idea for Torres to miss the Everton game anyway. They will only kick seven colours of sh!te out of him if he plays.

Spot on!

It's things like this that make a total mockery of the rotation policy and puts its flaws squarely in the limelight.
No doubt Rafa will say that we have other strikers who are fit and rested from being rotated, but are they match sharp?

Answer us that Rafa?  :p

Says on the Sky Sports webiste at least 10 days, and he will miss it. I think he will be okay, if not its a blow. Still win without him .. hopefully  :D

Its ok because we signed two strikers like we needed to...

Remember Torres and er...

Oh :censored: yeah, we didn't. We signed one first team quality striker. So thats more of the same for the Derby then with Kuyt and Crouch upfront. Great, lets all expect another "last season" performance then.

At the moment no, and that can be said for the rest of the team, Stu.

We'll have to wait and see mate.

I rate Voronin though. I think he just needs more matches rather than being subbed on. Kuyt and Voronin to start if Torres is injured...
