a few injuries could make it very difficult for them, hopefully Wigan can get us off to a flyer. After yesterday I think it would be so fitting if we won the league, maybe Fergie's thinking the same!

Like several posters have already mentioned, I think that the extra games that Chelsea and Manchester have to play may play an important role.

While in holidays, I couldn't access to the internet but I grabbed the Sunderland game in a lost bar of a little village.

I saw a poor Manchester United, and a Sunderland who invited them to score (I was infuriated seeing how they defended). I also saw Ronaldo and another couple of players rotated.

While I believe in rotation as a necessary method when you play so many games, I think that resting your best player like Ronaldo, even if necessary, may be paid if you don't have him (the goal of Ronaldo yesterday meant they're through, for instance).

So yes, I think we have a chance. But the next game is a final, the lads have to play as if they were playing in Rome, and the supporters have to sing as loud as if they were in Rome.

Well if we win all our games, we only need the mancs to draw 2 games... they don't even need to lose... i think it's possible..,

All I want is for us to win all our remaining games. If we give it our all and manage that I will be happy.

Game on.... :D

ir Alex Ferguson has accused Rafael Benitez of "arrogance" and showing "contempt" in his dealings with fellow Premier League managers.

The Liverpool chief has been in combative mood recently, on several occasions launching verbal volleys at Ferguson.

And ahead of Sunday's FA Cup semi-final with Everton, Ferguson has hit back with a withering assessment of Benitez's conduct.

First he lambasted the Spaniard for his description of Everton as a "small club" before rounding on him for the attitude he showed in dismissing Blackburn last weekend once Liverpool had scored their second goal at Anfield.

"Everton are a big club, not a small one which Benitez arrogantly said," said Ferguson.

"But arrogance is one thing. You cannot forgive contempt, which is what he showed (Blackburn manager) Sam Allardyce last weekend.

"When Liverpool scored their second goal he signalled as if the game was finished. I do not think Sam deserved that.

"Sam has worked so hard for the LMA (League Managers' Association) and he's had a weakened team. I just thought it showed contempt.

"In my experience no Liverpool manager has ever done that. It was beyond the pale."

The tirade should enliven the Premier League title battle when it resumes next week, although Ferguson will feel justified in making the attack.

Benitez had delivered what he claimed to be "facts", about United which the Red Devils do not believe to be true.

And while Ferguson has tried to resist the temptation to respond, this time he felt he needed to make a stand against the Liverpool manager, who feels more sure of his ground after finally steering his club into championship contention despite this week's Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea.

'Sam' deserved anything he got after making unprovoked comments about Rafa in the first place. :censored: him and his LMA award. Rafa is one of most respectful managers you will ever see.

As for Fergie this is yet another unprovoked attack to which im sure Rafa will reply, hopefully AFTER and not BEFORE the Arsenal game.

I saw that as well.

Allardyce is just like "Colin" Warnock: always moaning about petty stuff.

I bet you Fergie has asked Sam to come out and say this in an attempt to get Rafa to talk.

Could Rafa have not been acknowledging the quality of the goal. He could have been gesturing 'there is no stopping that, forget about it....'

Honestly this is just petty.

Come on Arsene do us a favour and field the Ressies on Tuesday, kick the Mancs out of Europe and beat them in their own backyard in the league, then 'Arry can get a draw there and we can win the rest of our games. Sounds like a good finish that one

Interesting to compare our last three years of serious title challenging with this season and our two best Premiership points tallies (80 and 82)

After 32 games

2008/09 : P32 W20 D10 L2 F59 A21 PTS 70 (currently 2nd)
2005/06 : P32 W19 D7 L6 F45 A22 PTS 64 (finished 3rd)
2001/02 : P32 W19 D8 L5 F53 A26 PTS 65 (finished 2nd)

1990/91 : P32 W19 D7 L6 F61 A30 PTS 64 (finished 2nd)
1989/90 : P32 W19 D8 L5 F62 A31 PTS 65 (Champions)
1988/89 : P32 W18 D9 L5 F55 A24 PTS 63 (finished 2nd)

Obviously the top flight has progressed and you need more wins and points to win the league, but there are other interesting factors - games lost, goals for and against and teams beaten. While we have more points this season than in any of the other seasons listed, and conceded least goals, we haven't scored most goals.

The last time we won the league we drew at Arsenal, beat them at Anfield, did the double over Chelsea and didn't lose to the mancs (won at their's, drew at Anfield) Are there enough omens? We also lost at White Hart Lane, Boro weren't in the top flight in 89/90 but then a lot of the teams that are now weren't then.

They probably won't be anywhere near ther best but you know how utterly inept other premiership teams are. I think we've got a good chance of keeping our end of the bargain up and winning every game now but i just can't trust the other sides to take points of the scum, no matter how sh#t they play.

fair point and your probally right but ill be so proud if we do win all our games and make a fight of it no matter what happens with the scums results
this is what weve asked for for years just to be contenders and at the moment we are real contenders
