I swear that man is as foolish as they come. First he speaks about respect and arrogance, then he doesn't even recognize which managers belong to which club. How can a man like that win league year in and year out?!

Fergie.html?ITO=1490]Latest from Rafa[/url]  :sleep

Rafa Benitez has launched another scathing attack on bitter rival Sir Alex Ferguson , claiming the Manchester United boss believes he has a 'licence' to play mind games.

The Liverpool manager, whose side were overtaken by United at the top of the Barclays Premier League after the Red Devils cruised to a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth, cranked up the tension between the pair by claiming he has a better side than United.

Benitez said: 'I'm not having a battle of words with Alex Ferguson, but I believe that he can see that we are the better side, and that we are very close to United.
'He has been accustomed to playing these types of mind games for many years.

Nobody has ever said anything against him, or stood up to him, as he has a very good team that can win trophies.

'It seems like he has a licence to do these sorts of things.'

The Madrid-born Anfield boss, 49, who recently signed a contract extension until 2014, also declared his intention to sign more Spanish players during the summer.

'I try not to talk too much,' he told Spanish daily ABC. 'But all I do when I speak is to defend my own team.

'I did not say that he seems frightened. But I said that he looks nervous, as he can see that we are very close to his team.

'I always said that I was very keen to continue at Liverpool," he insisted. "I just had to discuss a few matters relating to the job of being a manager in England, including the power to take part in transfer negotiations and to make decisions.

'I did not have these prerogatives, but we resolved the matter. I always say that if a club wants to convince a player to join them, the person he has to speak to is the manager.

'I'm working every day with our scouting department and our coaching staff, weighing up the future of every one of our players and the possibilities of bringing in new ones.

'Will I look in Spain? I have always said that Spanish players have fully demonstrated their qualities - and that they are at the highest possible level.'

Liverpool lost potentially fatal ground to United in the title race on Tuesday when Benitez's side played out an epic 4-4 draw with Arsenal at Anfield.

Benitez added: 'It is essential for us to try to keep the pressure on United. We must not slacken off, and if we keep going that will make them feel under pressure.

'They have an advantage, and if they don't slip up there is nothing we can do. But we must stay as close to them as possible in case they slip up.

'In any case, we will go after the title as long as it is still a possibility for us.'

I think he needs to start being quiet now, enough is enough with all this, its getting a bit boring

Yes but it would be wiser to just not mention anything, everybody considers Ferguson to have lost it at the moment so why say anything?

i think manures next 5 games will decide the PL regardless of our results, but because of the way those games are comin I'm gettin a lil confident. Spudz this weekend, Goonies midweek, then Boro away - not a guaranteed game historically if i recal properly. Then Goonies again and Citeh. They win the 3 league games I think we'll struggle but I dont see them takin all 9 points, an thats where we step in an take the reins.

I dont see a harder game than las tuesday for us, an if we dont beat hull the way they're playin compared to the form we're in we dont deserve a shot for the title - with or without Gerrard. I really see the title comin down to las game of the season an Spudz..... an Keane. How I hope lettin him go back dont bite us when we may be so close. Tuf call for him if it happens - we win the league he gets a medal with the team he supported as a kid an probly still does despite his time at Anfield. Las minute penalty to deny us the win we need and its on his head...... imagine Anfield......

I'll leave it there, the possibilities are jus too emotional either way!!
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

It then depends how much he hates the club but he is a fan and would hopefully play a stinker. At that stage who gives a :censored:, Spuds have nothing to play for anyway.

Corruption of the words Spurs as in Tottenham HotSPURS, or maybe there is some potato reference I'm unaware of.  :D
