Title run-in - The home straight

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Effes » Sat Apr 04, 2009 8:09 pm

I wanted to do this last week, but thought I'd wait to see how the Fulham game went first :)

How it stands now:

----------------Pl----W----D---L----F---A---GD---PTS

Liverpool----31---19--10--2---55--21--+34----67

Man Utd----29---20---5---4---49--18--+31---65

Chelsea-----31---19---7---5---51--17--+34---64

Fixtures remaining:

Date:-------Liverpool------------Manu Utd-------------Chelsea

05 Apr                                Villa (H)

11 Apr       Blackburn (H)      Sunderland (A)      Bolton (H)

21 Apr       Arsenal (H)
22 Apr                               Portsmouth (H)     Everton (H)

25 Apr       Hull (A)              Spurs (H[5.30pm]) West Ham (A)

02 May      Newcastle (H)     Boro (A)               Fulham (H)

09 May      W Ham (A)         Man City (H)         Arsenal (A)

13 May                              Wigan (A)

16 May      W Brom (A)         Arsenal (H)          Blackburn (H)

24 May      Spurs (H)            Hull (A)              Sunderland (A)

-------------------"-------------------

Im just praying Villa have a stormer tomorrow.
Man U have got quite a few players missing so it's not asking to much for a draw, which is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Basically, if Man U fail to win it gets very interesting!

Looking at the away games our only tough one is West Ham. Utd have Boro and Wigan which will both be tricky. Chelsea have Arsenal and West Ham, both tricky too. So all in all out of the away fixtures we have the easier run in.

As for home games the Arsenal game is going to be tough, they have a lot of players back from injury now and are looking strong but aside from that we should win the rest.

All in all I think we have the easier run in and I don't see why we cannot win all our remaining games. So long as everyone stays fit.

West Ham and Arsenal are the two games where i reckon we might drop points, the others I expect all three

As for Man U - Sunderland and Boro are in the sh!t so I wouldn't expect an easy game at either, a Manc derby is always unpredictable and Wigan away wont be easy

They might just struggle as wel because theyve got CL games and the FA cup

Utds record at the Riverside is not the best Greavsie. A team fighting for relegation can sometimes be very stubborn.

Im not really worried about the Arsenal game because it is a 7,45 game in midweek and the players and fans will be well up for it, west ham away will be tough

I think Pompey at home is the only game for United where I am 99% sure they will take all 3 points.

Ive bolded the games that I think are tricky for each team.

I may be pushing it a bit - but I had a feeling Fulham would get something against the Mancs,
and I can see Sunderland doing something similar as they are in a fight to avoid relegation.

It's looking good.

May 9th looks like it could be a mad day, as I can see all 3 contenders having tough games.

Every match is like a cup final now.. How great could it have been if we were 2 points clear and on equal games played with mannure. Anyhow im certain mannure will drop points so as for us main thing is keep on winning and never drop momentum. Its one hell of a ride now!! Also hoping the bitters will draw and against that will force a replay. Would love mannures champs match to go in to extra time to drain the fecks out completely.. LOL i think im asking for too much now.

Nobody rates Wigan anymore?

I think for us the tough games are:
1. Arsenal
2. Spurs
3. Westham

For ManU:
1. Arsenal
2. Man City
3. Spurs
4. Boro

If we are to win the title then Chelsea are not a threat. We can't afford to drop that many points and expect to win the title
