The 20-year-old defender put pen to paper on his contract with the Reds after undergoing a medical at Melwood.

Afterwards, Ilori told Liverpoolfc.com: "It feels great being a Liverpool player - coming to the Premier League has always been a dream for me.

"I'm going to try and achieve everything I can. I want to play as much as possible and we'll see what the future holds. I will give my all and try my best to help the team."

Though born in London, Ilori has represented Portugal at U18, U19 and U20 level.

He also has experience of playing at Anfield in the 2011-12 NextGen Series for Sporting.

"I know the history of the club and the Premier League is the best league in the world, in my opinion," said Ilori. "Liverpool, have a great team and I think it's the place for me to be at the moment.

"I know there have been some great teams here in the past and the club has won a lot of trophies and I want to be a part of it."

Ilori becomes Brendan Rodgers' sixth signing of the summer transfer window, following Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet and Aly Cissokho.

Seen a few scouting reports that he could be a future DM due to his ability on the ball. He is the quickest player to go through the sporting academy - including Ronaldo and Nani.

the only thing I know about him was there was a bit of a stink kicked up that that he did not pick England to play for, as he has not made the Portugal  first team I think he can still change.

He'd have a better chance of winning silverware with Portugal though  :D

It's Tiago ILORI and not LLORI. Unless this was all a joke and I didn't get it  :D , please correct the spellings!

Sakho maybe more ready for the 1st team... but this guy's skill set is more interesting. He is 6'3", taller than Sakho, very good on the ball, can pass, and quite physical as well. It will be interesting if he can be developed as a DM... reminds me of Vieira...

As much as I was against signing him I'm really looking forward to seeing him in action. Brendan rates him for a reason and I want to see it.

If nothing else, his name shows great promise for a good song :D

Welcome to the club kid!

Best defender we've signed since Henchoz and Hyypia ,I just love how cool under pressure he seems ,has the potential to be one of the very
best and certainly has the arrogance that comes with knowing your supremely talented ....... Rio Ferdinand possessed the same at his age.

Tiago Ilori is  the type of classy defender Real Madrid and Barcelona have been snapping up for countless years.

Welcome to Liverpool Football Club lad ,now become a legend.
