I have no idea if this counts as a stupid question or not but what will happen to Anfield if Stanley Park does get built?

Does it get knocked down or would it be preserved and maintained as a historical site?

Or would it be used for recreational purposes or maybe reserve games?

Any ideas?   ???

Ok well I get that part..

But doesnt Anfield deserve to be preserved?

I mean, its Anfield.

Well, I guess sentimental value doesnt account for much.

it would be nice from a sentimentalist point of view to keep it but can you imagine the cost of maintaining the place even empty & unused? also  planning permission was granted on the basis that not only will we get a shiny new ground but the whole area and community as a whole will benefit from all the other regeneration work that's part of the package. there's no way they'd give permission if anfield was just gonna be left to rack & ruin

Ok you got me there...

But if they're going to tear down Anfield at least let there be a reminder of its existence.

A plaque, a statue even.

Maybe something that says THIS IS ANFIELD. Or was.

:D

P.S Or do they already have one??     :D

On that note, does anyone know what they'll do with the Shankly Gates and the eternal flame?  Will they be moved to the new ground?  And what will the new ground be called?
