In Rafa's first three years the squad got stronger every year, with a limited budget Rafa made some excellent signings but because money was limited some of them were gambles which didn't work out.
When t&t came in the slide started, lots of strange things happened that didn't make sense (Keane, Aquialni etc.). I'm not saying he didn't make mistakes but decisions were made behind the scenes purely down to money and Rafa took most of the blame. Igor's post might go some way to explaining what went on.
Since Rafa left the decline has accelerated and poor old Roy has taken the flak, he's not as bad as some people make out but it just shows how good Rafa was.
I'm gutted how far we've sunk and we need to do something fast but we can't afford to make another bad decision. Things need to be put right at the top and then appoint the right coaching and management team to take us forward.
I think a caretaker might be the right move (perhaps after the manc game), a good coach who knows the game, tactics and formations, somebody with recent management experience in the premiership. Not sure who but what about somebody like Paul Jewel until the end of the season when we could sort other things out and look for a top class up and coming manager.
