Stevie if he heals properly is going to be like having signed another worl class player next year.

For the first time he will not be starting the season fighting against the tide. He will a player and our captain and only that. He is going to have an immense season next year, I can feel it in my bones.

I just hope he plays in one position and one position only instead of getting shifted around left right and centre. Ok I know he's amazing versatil and can play almost anywhere but Kenny should decide on his role in our new look side at the start of the season and then stick with it. Gerrard himself should not be allowed to dictate where he plays.

Steven Gerrard has vowed to return stronger than ever at Anfield after an injury-plagued end to last season.

The Liverpool skipper missed large parts of the last campaign, with a groin injury the main cause and an issue that kept him out after March.

A successful operation has since followed, and Gerrard is now eight weeks into his recovery and still confident that he can make a telling impact for the Reds side on his return. The England international is raring to get back on the pitch when Kenny Dalglish's side return for pre-season in July.

"I have confidence in what I can do. I am going to be in the best condition physically going into this season that I have been for the last 10 years," Gerrard told the Daily Express.

"I am working doubly hard on my body, on my core and on strengthening my groin, which I have suffered with. The operation went well and I have nearly double the strength in the groin now than before. The physios at Liverpool are measuring that on a weekly basis and the results show that.

"I know I will be rusty in friendlies but I have confidence that I am going to be the freshest I have been, both mentally and physically, for a long, long time."
Whilst the club captain acknowledges that he'll have to work hard to return to his optimum level, Gerrard has no issue with putting in the extra effort to make sure Liverpool get the best of his abilities.

"For two or three hours each day I will have to work on my body to make sure I am right," he said.

"But I don't see that as a chore. This is me getting right for Liverpool Football Club. I've not kicked a ball for a long time, probably the longest I have gone in my career, and I can't wait to get back now."

Gerrard also revealed that he's taken to different forms of activity to keep in shape whilst out through injury, with Yoga now one of the 89-cap international's new methods.

"I have started doing yoga a couple of times a week as well. It absolutely wipes you out. People who think you turn up and you're just posing in different shapes should have a go!

"I am enjoying it after the sessions because I am feeling the benefits. That is part of the reason why my groin feels so good just now" he concluded

Sounds really positive, we need to win the league so that Stevie has the full collection of domestic trophies. If anyone deserves it he does. I reckon he had maybe another 2 years of playing at a really good level, so it is a possibility.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

On SSN, it said that Gerrard is saying that he "feels that he has a brand new groin"

Good to know he is on the mend.

where do we want our maestro to play to get the most out of the team? As it looks at the moment I'm leaning towards either slightly behind Suarez or on the wing. This will be our biggest counoundrum in my opinion.

It all depends on who we can bring in and out ofcourse but if we look at our current players.

Gerrard faces fitness race
Reds skipper still a possible five weeks off full match fitness

By Mike Barton - Follow me on Twitter @SSports_Mbarton.   Last Updated: June 22, 2011 10:32am

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard faces a race to be fit in time for the start of the new season as he recovers from groin surgery.

The England midfielder has not played since March after having to undergo an operation on an area that has dogged him for much of his career.

Despite still being the club's talisman, Liverpool coped well without their skipper, finishing the season strongly despite narrowly missing out on a place in Europe.

Gerrard however is confident that the lay-off has allowed him to fully recharge his batteries, and believes he will be back fitter than ever in time for the new campaign.
Better condition

"I'm still four or five weeks away from playing a game but I believe I'll come back in a better physical condition than I've ever been," he said.

"I've had a rest mentally, and I'm feeling as good as ever, because I've had time to get my body right, get my body strong." "
Steven Gerrard on his fitness for the new season Quotes of the week

"It's been non-stop football for me since I started when I was 17. I've never had a period of more than four or five weeks out of the game, so it's been nice to rest mentally.

"You don't want to miss games but when you're watching them it gives you that edge, that buzz to get back. I'll come back hungry and hopefully there's a very productive season ahead for me.

"I've had a rest mentally, and I'm feeling as good as ever, because I've had time to get my body right, get my body strong."

"I want to come back with a bang, I want to have a big season.

"There's still a lot of time for me to achieve bigger and better things. I'd like to finish my career with a few more trophies."

he'll be back in time for the new season. Heard more reports that his recovery is going really well and he should be back for our 2nd or 3rd pre-season match.
