STEVE CLARKE OFFICIAL THREAD - Kenny's New Assistant

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

A very good appointment. Bags of experience in the Premiership and from what I've read and heard about him, someone who is very well liked by the players at the clubs he has been at.

Welcome to Anfield Sir.

Good appointment.

They may have taken their time, but FSG are starting to make their mark on the club now.

The true changes will probably come in the summer (supposedly when they had planned) but having been forced into acting now they aren't doing too bad a job.

Very happy with this, now we just need to give Sammy the boot or is this Sammy's replacement?

With all due respect to Sammy Lee i think we do need to change things.
A total change for me would be a fresh start, Sammy has been here the last 18 months when things have been at their lowest.
Would prefer someone else come in personally.

Agreed about change being needed Re Sammy Lee but

Welcome aboard Steve Clarke, hope everything goes well. My Chelsea supporting mate said it's a very good appointment, I'm gonna trust him on that one I think :D admittedly I haven't kept up with what he's achieved but from what I've read so far it sounds promising
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Same here mate. Not that you can point the finger at Sammy but perhaps a few new faces would be a good shout. I'd be quite happy to see Clarke come in. Not everybody in the coaching set-up has to have affiliation to the club, particularly when Kenny is top dog, he has an enough affiliation for everybody!

One of the most important hires will be the goal-keeping coach, i'm pretty sure Kelly did the jobbefore and there were a few rumblings coming out saying that Reina was unhappy with the training. It would not have surprised me if Kelly was very old school English in his approach which is supposed to be quite different to the methods employed on the continent whuih Pepe will have been accustomed to.

something hasnt been right for a long time and its difficult to know exactly what but i can only thing it would send out the right message that we are looking at changing things if we change the coaches as well.
Sammy is a pretty well respected coach and is LFC through and through but whenever i have seen him interviewed he isnt someone i listen i think 'yeah he talks a good game'
I suppose we will have to wait and see but like i said i would be all for a total change in the coaching staff personally.
