Do you people think sacking rafa right now will make life easier ? We have an important game coming up now, so lets focus on that and get the season back on track, if we end up winning the CL or FA cup, get 4th and either man city, arsenal and chelsea win the league then ill be happy

Maybe will win something and finnish 4th but scums will win the title and overhaul our record!

Based on what we've seen, does ANYONE really believe that is going to happen.

Can anyone really think that we'll stand much of a chance when the big games come up in the Champs league?

Having faith is one thing, but you need something to base faith on.

I waas talking about the FA cup.. cant see us winning the champions leauge! We will probably be out of it next week

i`m just glad these boards werent around when shankly was at the club.
from 1966 to `73 we went 6 years without winning a thing, infact we finished 5th 3 times in those 6 years, not to mention the infamous losses to lower division clubs (i.e  `the watford game` which still remains one of the worst defeats in our history.)
on top of that during those 6 years manchester united produced arguably their greatest ever team (law, best and charlton) which not only won the league but became the first english team to win the european cup, and if that wasnt bad enough during those 6 years everton also won the league with arguably their greatest ever side (kendall, ball and harvey)
there`s no way the fans we have now would have stuck by shankly back then, they would have got rid of him and the likes of bob paisley and joe fagan would have went with him..........and the history of our club would have looked a lot lot different.
benitez finished second last year with our biggest ever points total in the premiership, we finished four points behind united with ronaldo in their side despite torres and gerrard starting less than half the games.
when benitez took over we used to finish 30 points off the top.
i wouldnt even mind, he hasnt been able to play his best side yet because of injury.
in his 5 years here he has been to 2 champions league finals, the f.a cup final and the league cup final.
anywhere else they`d be naming a stand after him or building a f##king statue of him.

Yes our Kneejerk reaction is to say 'sack him' but we can ill afford it both financially and for the stability of the club. To bring in a new manager who has no money to spend and who is not as familiar with the players as Rafa is would be madness and would potentially bugger up any chance we have of salvaging a god damn awful start to the season. If we can look at the positives and remember that when everyone is fit we still have a great first team and at the moment ...well we are playing with the bare bones of an inadequate squad. I cannot honestly see how a change of manager right now would bring a change of fortunes but I am not wholly convincing myself!

Thats a good point but if Rafa was any other top 4 team he be sacked by now and that is true.We can't keep living in the past it ruins us as a footballing club the past is great but it is history and we need to be making our own history now not living in it.

I don't think the issue of money comes into it. He's had 5 years who sold Crouch and Keane to name 2 so that we could have Ngog and Voronin instead? The squad isn't good enough and sure there might not be that many better managers around but he clearly isn't getting the best out of his squad, not team squad. It isn't good enough I'm afraid if we lose on tuesday he has to go 7 defeats in 8 it's bad enough now with 6 defeats in 7. If need be put Dalglish in charge till May and then find someone better  but the way things are going we won't even be in contention for a Europa league place next season. I also don't think we'll win the FA Cup or the champions league. Having said that if we do beat Lyon on tuesday I can see Aquilani starting against Birmingham at which point things could begin to turn our way.

Thats a good point but if Rafa was any other top 4 team he be sacked by now and that is true.We can't keep living in the past it ruins us as a footballing club the past is great but it is history and we need to be making our own history now not living in it.

no it`s not true, infact if he won the european cup for chelsea or arsenal he would be a legend of those clubs.

i would wait till the end of the season of course and then thank him and release him.

It isn't the results really which disappoint me but the fact that the guy keeps repeating his mistakes ,and if one can't or won't learn or change then he must be replaced.

Rafa is a lousy scouter ,lousy team selector ,lousy motivator - he is a genious tactiction but that can be helpfull once a decade...We need someone which will pick the right players for the right price and build a team for the coming decade.

If we lose against Lyon and then lose a few more League games then I think we can return to this topic, but in the meantime I think it is pretty pointless.... mainly cos you will find yourself in the same place as where you started ie. he won't be sacked anytime in the near future no matter how much anybody wishes it.

redknapp , bruce , Hodgson to name a few don't care what people say they are top managers and know this league inside out.If you wanna win the league you need a manager who is good in the league and those managers are.
