Rafa asked for five years when he took on the job.... that time has come and gone.... we have just lost four games on the trot for the first time in 22 years.... the team were shambolic on Tuesday night, the one player who offered any kind of attacking ingenuity was bafflingly, substitued.... to continue to support this manager, I feel is not in the best interests of the club. I have felt this for a few years now and a lot of it has to do with the style of play Benitez adopts... too defensive. Thanks for everything Rafa but for me, show him the door!

Our League campaign is laughable, our european is well a tough one. I hate our owners but when all said and done we sold a perfectly decent right back and signed another who is decent for way over the odds. The other new guy we signed, i dont no if he will be good bad or in indifferent. Irrelelvant, Fact is we bort a guy for alot of money who a fair way into the season has not played a game. I don't care how good he is, when he does get to start we are playing catchup, a game we will struggle to win at. We keep playing the only brazilian with no tallent. We have one striker. We new all this at the start of the season and prayed we had no injurys, well we do and we are FU**ED. Babel voronin ngog young not good enough. I'm mad very mad and RB is to blame.

Regardless of anyone's opinion on Rafa (and some lost the faith in him long before last season) sacking him (or any manager in my book, unless the dressing rooom has been lost) at this stage of the season would be completely knee-jerk and likely to be counter productive for a number fo reasons.

1- There is enough turmoil behind the scenes with the owners without worrying about a change of manager so early in the year.

2- Some of our top players (Torres and Reina spring to mind) have allegiences to the manager. If he went, and things didn't improve I wonder if they'd be so certain of their futures at the club come January when the big offers come in again.

3- Would the owners see a green light to sell Torres for BIG money in January if Rafa was not at the club or we were in a caretaker manager situation? In my opinion, YES they would.

4- Who would we get in at such short notice? Chance sof getting a top name such as Hiddink or Mourinho are virually zero in mid-season.

5- That leaves us with Sammy Lee. Great servant to the club and a passionate number 2, but no thanks.

In my opinion it simply isn't realistic to even think about it at this stage of the season, no matter how pis...s...ed off you might be with our play, the personnel or anything tactical.

No self respecting manager will want to come to a club with absolutely bugger all money or ambition anyway which is what the current owners have reduced our club to.

If you sack him they will be lining up mate I don't care who is running our club people want to manage it , Its in the top 3 greatest clubs in world so who the feck would turn it down ?

With no money to spend, and a pair of bickering idiots like Waldorf and Statler in charge....personally, I can't see a rush of applicants...Dunno where YOU think they're gonna come from...

Managers love challanges and if Rafa went tomorrow its the sort of challange that can turn a manager into a ledgend and thats what would bring them.Its win - win for any manager who would come in if they fail blame the owners if they win something they go down heroes of world football. 

I was thinking last night about martin yol what you think , I think he is little gem of a manager he built that spurs team and look how well its performing now.

The point is that whether Benitez is the man long term for this club or not, he at this point in time is the glue holding this club together.  If he went now I think we'd be in a lot of trouble.

You have fu.ck knows what going on in the boardroom and with these two yank tos.sers and you have a group of players depleted by injuries and with confidence at its absolute lowest.  No sane person would be sacking the manager in this situation.

Everyone's angry, everyone's frustrated, but let's not let it cloud our common sense.

I like how people throwing names about for possible other managers on here is just like p*ssing in the wind.

So what are people supposed to do when asked who they see as a new possible manager then? It's an impossible question to answer becuase we have no idea who would be available but all those saying that no manager would want to come here are disrepcting this club something fierce. Liverpool is still one of the top clubs in world football, I don't think we'd have any trouble attracting a new top-class manager and lets not kid ourselves that Rafa has had no money that is pure bullsh1t, he may not have had as much as Manure and the chavs but compared to the majority of clubs in world football he has a very nice transfer kitty every season, bar the last one where hardly any clubs had any money.

Amen to that, I think most reds are in agreement on this tbh. Even Dav's thread opener came a couple of hours after the game, following a few bevies (i'll bet!) plus it's a whole lot worse if you're actually going the game and witnessing crappy play for real. In the cold light of day i would have thought most fans can see the MASSIVE risks of sacking the manager at this stage of the season. It is a VERY DIFFERENT situation to Chelsea last year who obviously improved dramatically after bringing in Hiddink for Scholari.

Trouble is, there's a thread like this every time we find ourselves in a bit of bad form, so the same garbage gets rehashed from the same and usual suspects each and every time. Oddly enough, each and every time this happens, Rafa always seems to steady the ship.

It's bad enough watching this sh.it on tv but by heart goes out to the local fans having to pay to sit through that dross every week at the moment, it's far more depressing.  Had a taste of it myself when I went to the Sunderland game, awful.

Good post but I do unsurprisingly disagree becuase I actually think he has lost the dressing room already, the team have not been the same since alonso left, i think there was a hell of a lot more going on behind the scenes with Alonso than any of us realise.
If Rafa leaves then things will get worse before they get better but that's not big problem as far as I'm concerned as it needs to happen at some point and mid season is probably the best time. As for a mass exodus of players, firstly I don't think it will happen but if they are that disployal to the club and fans then they can feck off for all I care. If the owners want to sell Torres in January can you explain how Rafa will stop them becuase unless he owns 51% of the shares I don't see how he could.
